The young Australian boy, who has a type of dwarfism was subject to extreme bullying during school, and his mother, tired of the authorities taking no action, had posted a video of him.
After the video went viral, Miller, being the kind-hearted human being he is, gave Bayles a small role in one of his movies. Impressed by the young star’s talent, Miller has also cast Bayles in the upcoming Mad Max prequel, Furiosa.
Mad Max Director George Miller Shows What Real Kindness Is
George Miller is best known for making the critically acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road. Apart from being a brilliant filmmaker-director, Miller is also gentle, kind, and sincere. Such is his generosity that the director, distraught by seeing a viral video of a young boy, went ahead to cast him in his movies, hoping to change his life.
Quaden Bayles is an Indigenous boy from Australia who has achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism. Back in 2020, a video posted by his mother went viral across the internet, in which he can be seen crying after suffering extreme bullying in his school. While several celebrities and netizens came out to his support, a columnist stated Bayles might be acting.
This severely upset Miller, who knew that Bayles’ distraughtness was anything but acting. Severely upset, he then reached out to the young boy and cast him in his movie Three Thousand Years of Longing along with actors like Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton and also in his upcoming, Furiosa.
“It was good for us and it was good for him. And he did such a good job that he’s got a small role in Furiosa.”
Stated Miller while talking to the Sydney Morning Herald. While others showed support, Miller’s actions were a class in real kindness and generosity. Not only are his actions truly inspiring, but they also remind us all that we too have the power to make a difference in someone’s life.
What is George Miller’s Furiosa About?
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a prequel to George Miller’s post-apocalyptic Mad Max saga focused on the character Furiosa. Portrayed by Charlize Theron in the Academy Award-winning Mad Max: Fury Road, this prequel stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the character’s younger version.
Also featuring Marvel stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke in major roles, the movie is set 15-20 years before the events of the Theron-starrer epic. The official synopsis of the film reads:
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. As the movie’s release date draws closer, fans can hardly wait to see how grand Miller’s latest epic is. With a promising cast and Miller being the writer-director behind it, the movie is expected to earn $40-50 million during its opening weekend domestically (via Deadline).
