One of such incredible projects that the actor lost was the Oscar-nominated box office hit Gone Girl. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Hamm recalled the time when he was offered the lead role in the $369M movie.
According to the actor, Gone Girl began filming in 2013 when he was busy with Season 5 and Season 6 of the AMC series Mad Men. Playing the role of Don Draper, the charismatic creative director with a troubled past, Jon Hamm was busy with his role when he was approached with the opportunity to appear in Gone Girl. But unfortunately, due to his busy schedule and packed plans, Hamm had to drop the opportunity.
“I was down to the very end of that, it was meant to me but we had to film the continuing adventures of Mr. Draper.”
Harboring regret in his heart, Jon Hamm had to let go of the role due to his commitment to his AMC series Mad Men. Adapted from Gillian Flynn’s intriguingly slick tale, David Fincher’s Gone Girl later went to Ben Affleck, who started alongside Rosamund Pike, in lead roles. Hamm went on to appear in several other acclaimed projects, but he couldn’t get over the loss of living with the most toxic wife in the $369M movie.
Jon Hamm Found Happiness in His Marriage
Meanwhile, although the actor lost the opportunity to endure the most toxic onscreen wife in Gone Girl, he found the perfect partner in real life. Finding the love of his life in actress Anna Osceola, Jon Hamm tied the knot with her in 2023. Ever since then, Hamm confessed to having the best time of his life.
Speaking with ET, Jon Hamm claimed that he’s excited and happy to be with Anna Osceola. So far, the couple celebrated their six-month anniversary, and even enjoyed Christmas, together as a married couple. Loving the experience of married life so far, Hamm noted, “It’s exciting, you know, it’s very nice.”
“We had our six-month anniversary on Christmas Eve, so that was sort of nice. It makes it easier to remember. There was a lot going on, it was Christmas Eve.”
Tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in June, in California, Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola have been looking forward to a lasting happy future together. Speaking with People during a different interview Hamm stated,
“The best part of it is just being together. That’s really it. And it’s doubly nice that we’re married now and that’s really fun, but hopefully that continues on and you start creating new traditions with your family and all of those things, and that’s the best.”
Overall the couple have been enjoying each other’s company, and perhaps Jon Hamm is no longer upset with losing a toxic onscreen wife to Ben Affleck, for he found the woman of his dreams in real life.
