Chelsea Handler’s relationship with rapper and actor 50 Cent was in prominence for several tabloids while sparking huge gossip. The relationship between the duo started one year after 50 Cent’s visit to her show Chelsea Lately in 2009 on E!.
The relationship, however, did not last long as Handler was suspicious of R&B singer Ciara who allegedly had a romantic interest in the rapper which, as Handler admitted was quite uncomfortable and propelled arguments between the couple. Reportedly, Handler planned a vacation for them but it was in smoke as the rapper never showed up following their heated argument over the phone.
Chelsea Handler Revealed Details Of Her Relationship With 50 Cent
Chelsea Handler was candid about revealing details of her relationship with 50 Cent. Cent who has a stellar career in the music industry dated Handler for a few months but it all ended sooner with an unexpected argument. “This is how it started, he was on my show. He was cute, and you know I flirt with all the cute guys on my show,” Handler told Z 107.9.
“I thought he was just adorable. Then, he started sending me flowers but ridiculous amounts of like 50 white roses, and it was like laughable. I was like, ‘Get these out of my office! This is so embarrassing.’ Then he started to call my office, and my assistant was like, ‘50 Cent is calling and I swear I think it is him.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’ So I got on the phone, and he’s not like a grammatical genius and it’s kind of like silly. You should’ve seen some of the texts he used to send me. I’m like, ‘This is so stupid.’ He said some silly line, but it was very cute and I was like, ‘He’s sweet. He’s not carrying a gun right now.’”
While it all started on a sweet note, the relationship could not stand the test of time. After Ciara who previously dated Cent, (per TMZ) appeared on Handler’s show, the comedian and host discovered that Ciara and Cent were still in touch which did not go well with her.
Chelsea Handler On Her Breakup With 50 Cent
Handler did not hold anything back while explaining her relationship with the 21 Questions singer. “It was so dumb,” Handler admitted addressing their breakup (per Z 107.9). “It’s almost embarrassing,” she added. She went on to reveal how Ciara’s appearance on her show has altered her perspective on her relationship which caused suspicion and later argument which eventually led to their split.
“I think one of his ex-girlfriends was coming on my show and she’s one of those singers -I can’t remember her name. She’s really hot. He was dating her I guess previous to me. Ciara–that’s her name!–was coming on the show, and he called me to tell me something about her like she still calls him all the time, and she still tells him that she loves him or something,” Handler recalled.
It was far from her tolerance, “And I’m at my job, and I go “Curtis, honestly this is like eighth-grade sh*t,” she confronted the Cent.
“Why are you telling me this? This girl is coming on the show tomorrow, and now I have to look at her and think you guys have some weird thing going on or had going on. I said something like you’re like a street person basically. Something along the lines of being a gangster, and it was really, really offensive and I hung up and I’ve never spoken to him again.”
It was the end of their relationship. Handler further admitted saying the worst things to the rapper and Expend4bles actor. When she told her friends about that, they immediately responded that he was a proud black man and she had put him to shame. Later, Cent revealed that he was not interested in getting back together with Handler but still considered her a friend (per Hola!) And per Just Jared, the 49-year-old comedian revealed that 50 Cent was her favorite ex.
