Adele has been pretty vocal about her support for the pop queen Taylor Swift, as she once deemed her the greatest songwriter of this generation, which isn’t too far-fetched following her feats. And recently, the Easy on Me singer spoke out against the hate the Grammy winner has been facing for months from a portion of the football fandom since Swift’s involvement in the NFL.
The Cruel Summer Star, who has been dating Kansas City Chiefs Star Travis Kelce since last September, attended 12 of the Chiefs’ 18 games this season, garnering huge media attention. But some were less than pleased by Swift taking the spotlight, leading them to complain over the internet, and the British icon didn’t hold back while calling them out.
Adele Paused Her Show to Fire Back at Taylor Swift’s Detractors
At her Las Vegas residency show, Adele paused to take a stance for Taylor Swift amid the backlash she has been receiving from NFL fans after she started attending Chiefs’ games. Calling out the haters, the British Icon stressed that they should stop complaining and get a life, as she thanked Swift for making the NFL more interesting. Adele further shared that she would be supporting Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Chiefs in the Super Bowl, which Kansas City Chiefs ended up winning.
In a video shared by a fan on X, Adele can be heard saying,
“I think I want the Chiefs to win just because Taylor Swift goes for them, and all of you that are complaining about Taylor being at the game, get a f–king life. It’s her f–king boyfriend! It’s actually made it a bit more enjoyable to watch, because, like I said, I have no idea what’s going on.”
The Easy on Me Singer isn’t wrong when she said Swift’s visit to the NFL made things more interesting as the NFL has seen an upsurge in its viewership after Swift’s arrival.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Commended Taylor Swift for Bringing in New Eyes to the Sport
Per Front Office Sports, Taylor Swift‘s appearance in the NFL has reportedly generated $331.5 million as the NFL saw a spike in its female viewership by nine percent. And reflecting on the pop icon bringing in new eyeballs to the sport, Arnold Schwarzenegger came forward to commend the impact of the Grammy winner. He told THR:
Football itself draws the hugest crowd because it’s the most popular sport. But then to have someone like her (Taylor Swift) be there and watch the game adds another kind of a thing that [attracts] a different audience… especially younger girls are now more into football, they know the rules and all of that stuff, so it’s really amazing.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell too praised Taylor Swift for having a positive impact on the sport, which has benefited profusely following Swift’s appearances.
