Zack Snyder is known for his Snyder Cut which essentially changed the face of the Justice League. With a love for the director’s cut, Snyder has often created several versions of the same movie with a different release date for each version.
Although the people rallied for The Snyder Cut to be released, this doesn’t seem to be true for Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire. Stating that the movie was supposed to be R-rated, fans are allegedly tired of Snyder’s director cut trope.
Zack Snyder And His Snyder Cuts!
With Snyder’s magnum opus, there are two versions of Rebel Moon. The one released in theaters is given a PG-13 rating and will also be available to stream on Netflix soon. However, there is a completely different R-rated version of Rebel Moon that Snyder is hiding.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Zack Snyder revealed that the R-rated version of Rebel Moon feels like a completely different movie. Stating that he couldn’t afford for the original film to be R-rated, Snyder cited money as a reason for creating two cuts of the same movie. Fans were not ready to hear the 300 director, however, as they took to X (formerly Twitter) and stated how they were bored of Zack Snyder’s repeated tactics of releasing a director’s cut.
Zack Snyder describes his director’s cut of ‘REBEL MOON – PART 1’ as a “completely different movie”
He adds that he wanted the main film R-rated but at this “sort of scale & cost, you say, ‘it’s not 100% responsible to have that demand.’”

Every time his movies review poorly & do bad he always say it’s cause it’s not his vision or the directors cut is his vision. Dude keeps pulling this nonsense over n over 😪🤦🏻♂️

There is something wrong if a directors cut is a completely different film. Zack Snyder needs to envision his films to a theatrical cut and stop falling back to a “Snyder Cut”.

Then, gee, maybe release that one first next time.

He’s crying again about the director’s cut.

Here’s a thought: Learn to tell your story in two hours like most directors.
Snyder has the confidence of Steven Spielberg and the talent of Michael Bay.

Although the fans are quite displeased with Zack Snyder’s actions, there seems to be a silver line in this. In a separate interview, the director revealed that whatever he makes would always be an original work and not a copy/remake of any other project already existing!

Zack Snyder Doesn’t Do Remakes
Despite the director facing criticism for his work, there is one good thing that Zack Snyder admitted to never doing. With how Hollywood is constantly busy making remakes and rebooting franchises, Snyder admitted that he would never do anything like that in an interview with ComicBook.
“It’s weird because … for me, making moves in the movie business as a director, writer/director, is a glacial thing, I can’t just turn and say, ‘Oh, that’s what people want to see.’ So like, this has been a long time in the making.”
He further continued,
“I think it’s always been my sort of goal to create original work and kind of make new stuff. So if that happens to line up with what people want, that’s fine by me.”
With a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDB and a meager low of 22% on Rotten Tomatoes, Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire might be the last failure of 2023. The film is currently screening in select theaters and will be available to stream on Netflix from 21 December 2023.
