During an interview via THR, Bale noted his upcoming association with Gyllenhaal’s project which is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s gothic novel.

According to reports, the logline of Christian Bale‘s upcoming project follows the story of a lonely Victor Frankenstein who travels to 1930s Chicago to seek the aid of Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. Although the movie is yet untitled, it is being allegedly called Bride of Frankenstein.

I’ve got to shave my head next week [for a movie]… I’ll be working with the wonderful Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessie Buckley and so many talented actors in the cast. I’ve got to get busy getting on the rack, breaking my bones, and eating lots of fertilizer or something to try and grow.” Bale shared. 

Referring to the untitled project deemed as Bride of Frankenstein, Christian Bale noted how he is going to play the titular character in the film, for which he is shaving his head. Further with Maggie Gyllenhaal in the director’s chair, Bale is set to star opposite Jessie Buckley, Annette Bening, Penelope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard.

Meanwhile, Christian Bale’s upcoming movie on Frankenstein’s life and love story isn’t the only project that is being adapted from Mary Shelley’s iconic gothic novel. According to Variety reports, even Guillermo del Toro is preparing for his upcoming Frankenstein movie, featuring Jacob Elordi in the lead role. It appears that Bale’s movie is set to compete with del Toro’s project.

It has been noted that Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming adaptation of the classic tale about Frankenstein’s monster, is set to feature not just the rising star Jacob Elordi, but also Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, and Lars Mikkelsen. The logline for del Toro’s project is set to narrate the story of the brilliant but egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein, who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment.

Although as of now, neither Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein project nor Guillermo del Toro’s movie has revealed its release date, it is believed that both movies might compete against each other at the box office.
