Last year, after taking charge of DC, James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed DC’s upcoming slate of movies and various shows. Then only they also announced a new Batman movie named The Brave and the Bold, focusing on on Bruce Wayne’s son and bringing a new actor as Batman, as Ben Affleck will not reprise his role as Batman.
The Flash director Andy Muschietti has been hired to direct The Brave and the Bold. Meanwhile, many rumors related to this movie have been around since then. And recently, James Gunn took to his Threads account to debunk one of them.

James Gunn Reflects On a Rumor Regarding New DCU Batman Movie
As part of DC’s first phase, simply referred to as Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, five projects were announced. That includes Superman: Legacy, The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing. Along with these four, James Gunn confirmed The Brave and the Bold.
Regarding this movie and its writer, rumors were circulating that James Gunn is searching for a famous writer. Recently, Gunn decided to give such rumors a full stop as he replied to one user on this matter on Threads.
One user asked Gunn whether he would hire a talented writer to write The Brave and the Bold script. He even insisted that Gunn should do this. Gunn replied to him in a great way:
“Fame isn’t a part of the equation, positive or negative, in anyone we’re hiring.”
Earlier, there were reports or rumors that three-time Oscar-nominated writer John Logan who is famous for movies like Gladiator, The Aviator, and Skyfall is being seen as a great choice for writing The Brave and the Bold.
The Brave and the Bold: Everything We Know So Far About This Film
At the time of its announcement, James Gunn and Peter Safran teased and said that this movie would feature Batman and his son, Damien Wayne, as Robin.
Gunn teased, “[Robin is an] assassin, [a] murderer who Batman takes on, who is Batman’s actual son that he doesn’t know exists for the first 8-10 years of his life….it’s a strange father and son story about the two of them and based on Grant Morrison’s run of the Batman.” (Via Deadline)
Though no official confirmation about the cast has been released, many names are rumored to be associated with the film including Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles, Eternals‘ Richard Madden, Steve Jobs‘ Michael Fassbender, and Euphoria‘s Jacob Elordi.
Whether it will be adapting any comic book stories or not, Gunn went on record saying:
“[The film will be] based on the Grant Morrison comic book run, which is one of my favorite Batman runs, and we are putting that all together right now.” (via ComicBook.com)
As of now, it’s not confirmed who will be the writer, and it’s unclear what tone this movie would pursue.
