Recently, the co-CEO of DC Studios addressed the fan concern around reshoots plaguing the quality of recent superhero movies. Writer-director James Gunn frequently interacts with fans on the social media platform, Threads. This week, Gunn was answering a question from a fan about spreading a movie’s budget wisely. However, another fan quizzed Gunn about the problems with reshoots. The fan cited Deadpool as an example while asking how reshoots can affect a movie’s third act.
Gunn responded to the fan comment by stating that all cuts and restrictions pose a similar problem for filmmakers. However, the director encouraged viewing these obstacles as opportunities.

Seeing how Gunn’s comment was in direct response to a comment about Deadpool, fans are assuming the original comment was referring to Deadpool 3. However, the comment was actually referring to the first Deadpool film which underwent significant changes in its third act because of budget cuts.
On the other hand, Deadpool 3 is currently still filming. However, rumors suggest that Ryan Reynolds and the writers clashed with Disney over script changes and reshoots for Deadpool 3. As a result, Gunn’s recent comments about turning obstacles such as cuts and restrictions from studios into opportunities are also applicable to Deadpool 3.

Deadpool 3 marks the titular Merc with a Mouth’s first foray into the MCU. It also sees the return of Hugh Jackman who reprises his role as Wolverine from the X-Men films. The film is rumored to explore the multiverse, setting the stage for the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. Shawn Levy, who worked with Ryan Reynolds on The Adam Project is directing the threequel.
