James Gunn cancels HBO Max’s Doom Patrol

Doom Patrol was initially released to boost subscribers for the DC universe and later shifted to HBO Max. And following the reshuffle in the studio and the change in leadership, many products which were attached to the previous regime have suffered cancellation and Doom Patrol is no exception.

After the entry of James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helms, the duo is adamant about turning DC’s tides in the correct direction. And fans who were already suspecting the cancellation of their beloved show have come true. HBO Max officially announced its cancellation and stated,

“While these will be the final seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic endings,”

Although the ongoing Season 4  will be the last one for the show, the showrunners were already aware of this and preplanned a conclusive ending for season 4 without leaving any cliffhanger and fulfilling the characters’ story.

Fans upset over Brendan Fraser’s removal from DC

Although the cancellation of the show seemed reasonable to the fans, they were more downcast because of the exit of Brendan Fraser from DC after the final season. It isn’t the first time that a Brendan Fraser starring DC property was canceled, considering the cancellation of Batgirl.

Following James Gunn’s motive, who is adamant about scrapping the old scattered universe and creating a more cohesive DC universe, Doom Patrol’s cancellation appears reasonable. The director also shared his good wishes for the cast and crew of Doom Patrol moving forward, as he tweeted,
