Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel has been widely hailed as the best portrayal to date. Not only did he touch upon the deepest and darkest emotions of the Kryptonian superhero, but he also effortlessly showcased the sense of responsibility he carried as a heroic figure. However, his image has been challenged by DC’s latest venture into the superhero’s mythos.

After James Gunn‘s DCU’s recent cinematic failure with The Flash, fans have begun to have doubts about his leadership and rethink that Zack Snyder was perhaps the best that happened to DC. Among the many feats Snyder has had in the DC world, his representation of Superman and the casting of Henry Cavill have been considered the best.

However, this perception might soon change as DCU’s latest venture, My Adventures with Superman is here to prove that DCU under Gunn’s leadership is not so bad after all. While Henry Cavill’s Superman was dark, troubled, and gothic, the new Superman is more cheerful, optimistic, and calm.

Not only is it a fresh perspective of the Kryptonian hero, but it also offers fans what we all have been wanting, although unknowingly. An impressive portrayal of Superman. the series explores his character like has never been done before. With an anime-like feel and characters, it challenges the cultural image of DC superheroes, proving that even without their dark nature, Earth’s beloved defendants are just as great and mighty.

Why My Adventures With Superman Is Better Than Henry Cavill’s Man Of Steel

DCU has once again proven why it is the king when it comes to the animated genre. Not only does My Adventures with Superman show a whole new side to Superman, but it also brings to light the importance of his alter-ego, Clark Kent, along with presenting Lois Lane in her truest form.

Clark Kent for years has been overlooked, overshadowed by Superman’s brooding and troubled nature. For once we realize that Kent is more than just an alter-ego but a true human at heart. Despite not being an ‘Earthling’, My Adventures with Superman makes us realize how ‘Earth-like’ he really is. He is awkward, funny at times, daring, and yet a goofball, for once not the troubled self-ostracized character he is often depicted as.

Moreover, the series also puts Superman’s lady love, Lois Lane, in a fresh light. She is smart yet enduring, fierce yet caring, determined yet naive at times. She is the female lead that all girls would look upon and not just a damsel-in-distress character that needs a ‘Superman’, making her a collaborator when it comes to saving the world and not just a helpless spectator.

My Adventures with Superman is available to stream on HBO Max.
