A live-action Teen Titans movie is now in the works at DC Studios with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s screenwriter Ana Nogueira. However, as of now, it’s not certain whether this live-action movie will be set in the DCU or a standalone film under the DC Elseworlds Banner. Nothing about the logline or producer and who will be directing the movie is known at the moment.
The Teen Titans, initially introduced in DC’s The Brave and the Bold #54 in 1964, consist of a group of young superheroes whose members have varied across different interpretations. Traditionally led by Batman’s sidekick Robin, the team often includes characters like Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and Cyborg, among others.
Currently, filming is ongoing for Superman, which is set to be the inaugural film in the DC Universe (DCU). Other upcoming films confirmed to be part of the DCU lineup include The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing.
Teen Titans Live-action Movie in Development at DC Studios
DC Studios is bringing the iconic Teen Titans to life in a brand new live-action film. According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the project is currently in development, spearheaded by DC Studios. Ana Nogueira, known for her work on the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie within the DC Universe, is set to pen the screenplay for this film.
The Teen Titans have been thrilling audiences since their debut in 1964 comics. However, it was the 2003 Cartoon Network animated series that truly catapulted them to superstardom. The show’s popularity soared for three years, becoming a beloved series on the network.
In 2013, the franchise took a lighter turn with Teen Titans Go!, a comedic spin-off that continues to entertain viewers today.
This live-action movie marks another step in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s grand vision for the DC Universe on screen. Their plan kicks off with the Creature Commandos animated series premiering later this year and builds towards the highly anticipated live-action Superman movie starring David Corenswet in 2025.
Fans Think Jenna Ortega Will Be Perfect as DCU’s Raven
Jenna Ortega has been steadily making waves in the entertainment industry, captivating audiences with her versatile performances. From her roles in Jane the Virgin to Elena of Avalor, Ortega has proven her talent time and again. However, it was her poignant portrayal in the 2021 film The Fallout that truly showcased her depth as an actress, earning her widespread praise. Notably, her Golden Globe nomination for her lead role in Netflix’s Wednesday further solidified her status as a rising star.
Among the buzzing discussions surrounding Ortega’s potential roles in the DC Universe, fans are particularly enthusiastic about her portrayal of Raven. With Raven being a cornerstone of the Teen Titans, casting her perfectly would be a major win for James Gunn’s vision of bringing this iconic team to the big screen.
