In conversation with IMDb, Simmons, and Kirkman compared notes as to what they thought would be Nolan Grayson’s favorite TV series or film. While Krikman’s answer held more water (with him being the creator of the character), Simmons favored his reel son and mentioned another Steven Yeun’s hit television series.

When asked about what they think their characters would consider their favorite pieces of media to be, the cast had very profound answers. However, Kirkman singled out what he thought Omni-Man would enjoy, in opposition to what Simmons speculated to be the Viltrumite’s favorite piece of media. The Whiplash alum said (to IMDb):

“The Walking Dead. You know, just off the top of my head. And probably a big fan of Gunsmoke.”

Gunsmoke refers to the Western television and radio show that ran for 20 seasons. The Walking Dead is a hit television series created by Kirkman himself. Kirkman had a different idea about what Omni-Man would enjoy. He said:

“Omni-Man, I probably think, is a John Wayne guy. Probably into Clint Eastwood, Spaghetti Western, things like that”

While Kirkman did not agree with Simmons wholeheartedly, It is to be noted that they both cited Westerns as something their character would enjoy, reflecting the arc that Nolan himself has to go through as the story of Invincible progresses.

Steven Yeun (Mark Grayson) thought that his character would love sitcoms. According to the Mayhem actor:

“Maybe The Office. He seems like he watched a lot of The Office in the background.”

Other actors also talked about shows their characters would enjoy. Jason Mantzoukas, who plays Guardians of the Globe member Rex Splode, weighed in on what the character would find interesting:

“He just watches Entourage. And he found Entourage the series, based on his love for the movie.”

Entourage refers to the television comedy-drama series that aired on HBO between 2004 to 2011. Apart from Mantzoukas, Zazie Beets (Amber Heard)  and Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve) also had a few words to say about their characters. Jacobs said:

“Planet Earth- anything David Attenbororugh”

This selection of media is perhaps the most accurate and in line with the character, given that Atom Eve is not a conventional superhero. She would rather use her power of molecular transmutation to not just fight supervillains, but also provide humanitarian aid beyond extrajudicial law enforcement.

Beets, on the other hand, took some time to answer for her character. She eventually ended up taking Matzouskas’s advice and plugged in her other show Atlanta, which she mentioned as the cast giggled and the Joker actress winked.
