Wrestling fans are really furious with AEW star Darby Allin, who recently insulted Kurt Angle—a big figure in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Angle is considered one of the all-time wrestling greats. He proved his real wrestling chops by snagging an Olympic Gold Medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympics despite having a broken neck.
At WrestleMania 35, the 55-year-old wrapped up his wrestling career, losing to Baron Corbin. This match occurred almost two decades after Angle’s debut on WWE television.
Many fans were upset because Pittsburgh native’s last match at WrestleMania 35 was against Baron Corbin instead of someone like John Cena. They thought The Prototype would have been a better choice for Angle’s final match. Sadly, it didn’t come to be.
AEW Star Faces Backlash Over Disrespectful Remarks on Kurt Angle
Darby Allin recently stirred things up by making comments that criticize WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Samuel Ratsch who is better known as Darby Allin in ring, currently wrestles for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
He hinted that Angle didn’t fight to wrestle someone he truly wanted in his retirement match. In his rant, Allin even went as far as seemingly calling Angle “a little b***h.”
During an interview with Collider, Allin shed some light on Angle’s retirement match. He explained that WWE suggested the matchup with Baron Corbin because of their prior storyline and the company’s plans to push Corbin.
Although Wrestling Machine stated it was his call to retire and face Corbin, it wasn’t the match he truly wanted. Fans, including Allin himself, weren’t happy with this decision. For this reason, the Seattle native criticized Angle, saying he should have been clearer about who he wanted to wrestle in his retirement match. Look at what he said:
“…the fact that you have to tuck your tail between your legs, and be a nice little good boy, and get a paycheck, and wrestle somebody that you have no desire to wrestle… We’re talking about your career, your life’s work. It’s baffling to me that people are such little bitches.”
Wrestling fans weren’t happy with 31-year-old’s remarks, and they went on social media to express their frustrations about it. Check out their reactions:

Darby won’t be able to walk by the time he’s 40. Nobody will remember him either. Jokes on him in the end.

Very disappointing take from Darby Allin. He's not a heel. Just don't understand what his motivation is here to say this.

Darby Allin is a cornier & less charismatic Spike Dudley who lucked out in finding a promoter who values him as one of his fav toys. He also comes off as one of the least intelligent wrestlers today. 🤷♀️ pic.twitter.com/dycse33NSB

Angle’s long-standing career in WWE, have earned him a special place in fans’ hearts. So, it makes sense why Allin’s derogatory remarks about King Kurt upset many.
Fans argue that the former two-time AEW TNT Champion isn’t in a position to criticize Kurt Angle, mainly because there are significant questions about what his own legacy in wrestling will be.
