While talking to Blunt, Horowitz compared her husband, John Krasinski, to J. Robert Oppenheimer, in the sense that both are obsessive geniuses of their fields, who created scary things.

As a result, the host wanted to know whether that aspect informed Blunt’s performance in the biographical drama film. In response, Blunt was all praise for her husband and agreed to the comparison on some level.

“John Krasinski is Oppenheimer? The Oppenheimer of the 2000s”

Blunt jokingly made the above statement about John Krasinski, who directed horror movies such as A Quiet Place and its sequel, featuring Blunt in the lead role. Although Blunt made the Krasinski-Oppenheimer comparison jokingly, the actress clearly meant it as praise for her husband, who has found success as a director after an extremely successful acting career.

During the interview, Blunt also spoke about other aspects of her personal life and touched upon her mother’s acting career. Blunt’s mother, Joanna Mackie, had a brief career as an actress in the 1980s and 1990s. However, Blunt stated that her mother’s acting ambitions fizzled after she got married and took the responsibility of raising children.

“She was so brilliant and then just had too many kids and a busy husband. Different times yeah. Feeling bad juggling it. God forbid you want a career and have four children.”

Blunt made the above statement, highlighting how her mother could never fulfill her acting ambitions. However, Blunt praised her mother for never allowing her career’s trajectory to affect her daughter’s success. Blunt also credited her mother with allowing her to enter the industry with a sense of clarity regarding how brutal acting can be as a profession.

Blunt complimented her mother for allowing her to pursue her own path but admitted Mackie was a bit nervous about Blunt becoming an actress, and forgoing formal education to do so. However, Blunt also said that her mother was relieved when things worked out for her in the industry. Blunt will next feature in The Fall Guy starring opposite Ryan Gosling. The film will be released on May 3, 2024.
