A clip showing Johnny Depp’s Donald Trump impression has circulated on the internet, alongside the actor’s insights into how he embodies the character of the former president. While Johnny Depp’s impression of the former US president was good, Jamie Foxx gets it even better.
Well before the recent legal turbulence with his ex-wife Amber Heard and the highly publicized defamation case between the former partners, Depp assumed the role of Trump in the satirical Funny or Die TV film Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie. This star-studded comedy was released in 2016, during the lead-up to the presidential election. Jamie Foxx, however, has never played Trump but did make a strong case for himself.
Jamie Foxx Beats Johnny Depp At Impersonating Donald Trump
During an interview with Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx showcased his impressively accurate imitation of Donald Trump. The entertaining incident occurred on the Rap Radar podcast, where the pair were discussing their upcoming Netflix film, Day Shift, which revolves around vampire hunting. Midway through the conversation, Foxx effortlessly launched into his rendition of Trump.
Jamie Foxx said in Trump’s voice (via YouTube):
“There’s a lot of great people on both sides. Lots of great people on both sides. I know Harry O,” he said, referencing Death Row co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris. “He’s a great person. He couldn’t vote for me at the time. Now he can vote for me once he gets out. I love Snoop D-O-double-G, great person.”
While Snoop erupted into laughter, host Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller kept the joke going by questioning Foxx-as-Trump about his views on Death Row Records.
Foxx said:
“All of them. All of the Death Row Records. Don’t try to pin me down, you see what he just…’ Scuse me. ‘Scuse me, fake news. They tried to give me the virus! I beat the virus!”
When the host insisted on knowing his preferred Death Row record, Foxx responded in the most Trump-like manner imaginable.
Jamie Foxx Almost Got Choked By a Co-star
Reflecting on the past when Jamie Foxx wasn’t as well-known, he reminisced about a time when Denzel Washington was already a celebrated figure. During an interview on Twitter, Foxx recounted a moment when he encountered Washington on the street and, as a fan, approached him for a hug.
Foxx said (via Twitter):
“You was at Roxberry one day, back in the day and I…you don’t remember this but I literally ran across the street and tried to hug you. Yeah but you did some kind of move that was like [raises his elbow in a choking position]”
“Did I put it right under your neck?” inquired Washington, chuckling, to which Jamie Foxx responded in agreement. Evidently, Denzel Washington’s skill in his craft is apparent, as he confidently asserted that he could triumph over Sylvester Stallone in a boxing bout.
