But as many may already guess, all of that reputation and prestige came crumbling down when the star was charged with domestic violence by his ex-wife Amber Heard. This was the time when WB replaced him with Mads Mikkelsen in the Fantastic Beasts franchise with a pay of $16 Million, and recently, he made a deal with French fashion icon Dior that is going to pay him $20 Million.

When an individual is as reputable and bankable as Johnny Depp, the money that he demands becomes an afterthought in comparison to his willingness to collaborate. Thus, because of his reputation for delivering on his expectations in films and commercial collaborations, the star was once valued at over $650 Million.

The hit to his illustrious career came in the form of allegations from his ex-wife Amber Heard, who filed a lawsuit claiming that the Edward Scissorhands star assaulted and abused her physically during their marriage. Following this, the star was relieved from his role as Gellert Grindelwald from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, and replaced by Mads Mikkelsen in the third film. For his part in the second film, Warner Bros. paid him around $16 Million as compensation.

And today, when his reputation is starting to rebuild, an old friend and supporter in the form of French fashion label Dior has once again extended their hand for future commercial collaborations, which is rumored to be a deal worth $20 Million.

This report from Variety claims that this is the biggest deal struck between a fashion brand and a film star in terms of men’s fragrance, which even stands above Robert Pattinson’s deal with the brand worth $12 Million to promote Dior Homme.

So far, these claims have not been substantiated officially by either the fashion label, or the star, but this seems highly likely to be the case since Dior stuck with Depp even when he was facing allegations and others were leaving him.

Despite appearing on screen with his true face for just one scene in the film, Depp managed to receive a whopping $16 Million in compensation for it.

The reason for this amount of financial gain led back to his reputation, which allowed him to negotiate a ‘Pay-or-Play’ deal with the company for this role. The official documents stated that WB had to ensure Depp was fully compensated for his contributions to the film whether or not the film was made and even if his role was recast according to the contract, which is what eventually led him to make bank.
