The last movie was Heard and Depp’s first project together. An important detail from here points out a significant discrepancy between the actors’ pay-checks. The Pirates of the Caribbean star earned $15 million, while Heard took home a measly $2,472.
After the rigorous financial background checkup, Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser reiterated that Heard was not in immediate need of spousal support from her ex-husband (via Cosmopolitan):
“As a successful actress with significant income of her own, there is no question that Amber can support herself until the parties have had a reasonable amount of time to assess their finances with the assistance of counsel and then negotiate a mutually agreeable resolution or seek regularly-noticed court orders.”
Heard’s legal team issued a response as to why the actress did not mention earlier the abuse allegations:
“Unfortunately, Johnny’s team immediately went to the press and began viciously attacking Amber’s character. Amber is simply a victim of domestic violence, and none of her actions are motivated by money.”
The war between the ex-couple became one of the most publicized feuds in the history of Hollywood. They were only married for 15 months before all these tumults emerged like hot springs.
