Marvel Studios is eager to bank on the success of the Spider-Man trilogy with a fourth installment, but no director is currently attached to the movie. However, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that a script is underway, so it will only be a matter of time before they find the right pilot to maneuver the project.

Director Jon Watts has moved on from directing superhero movies for the moment, and it does not appear that he would want to dedicate more of his time to another Spider-Man film.
Kevin Feige Hunts For New Spider-Man 4 Director As Jon Watts Seemingly Exits MCU
In an interview with Gizmodo, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige revealed, “Amy [Pascal] and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon.” A fourth Spider-Man movie has been in talks for several months now, although details about the plot and cast remain under wraps.

Jon Watts, director of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, has no plans to return for the upcoming project. Feige told CinemaBlend:
We love Jon. Jon did three of the best Spider-Man films ever for us. He’s got lots of things going on now. So we’ll probably be looking for somebody else, just because he’s busy.
The statement clearly expressed that they are resorting to a new director just because they could not get Watts to come on board due to his hectic schedule. They have been offering him the job for “one last hurrah” but it seems like Watts isn’t too enticed to take it.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was supposed to be the conclusion to Peter Parker’s story, but like many successful and profitable franchises, the studio still wants to take advantage of the popularity of the character.
It’s actually the same case with Deadpool & Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was supposed to retire as the famed clawed mutant died in 2017’s Logan. Marvel Studios was able to find a way to bring him back into the fold for another last hurrah.
Logan Director Expressed Disappointment With Deadpool & Wolverine

James Mangold was not thrilled with the news of Wolverine returning to the big screen. He told Variety:
I can’t say that there’s a part of me that doesn’t wish that we’d let it be. But there was always going to be another Wolverine…
Deadpool & Wolverine takes place before the events in Logan and the upcoming film will not dishonor the death of the character. Ryan Reynolds was very clear when he said they would not touch that story that took place in 2029.
Despite so, Mangold still doesn’t buy the idea. “As much liquid as they can squeeze out of that rag, they’re going to try to. I don’t measure my success on a movie like Logan,” he said.
The decision to revive a dead character in whatever way possible is one of the things that many filmmakers go against, especially when they have dedicated so much time and effort to giving the character a proper send-off.
All Spider-Man movies and Logan are available to watch on Disney+.
