The Jujutsu Kaisen storyline is currently in the Shinjuku Showdown phase of the Culling Game arc, and it is surely progressing rapidly with each passing chapter. Although Sukuna and Maki engaged in a full-fledged battle in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 253, which satisfied fans’ expectations, Sukuna ultimately prevailed over the Jujutsu sorcerers.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 254 promises to be even more shocking and is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable ones, with no fan being able to guess how it will end. Now, the spotlight will shift to the next competitor in the war against Sukuna, Kusakabe. Although Kusakabe is a Grade One sorcerer, his talents as a fighter have never been witnessed clearly.
And now as he is fighting the strongest character in the entire series, there is a theory that states that Kusakabe might be able to do the unthinkable and defeat the King of the Curses. Although it seems, highly impossible, there is some evidence that supports the theory completely.
How Strong is Grade One Sorcerer Atsuya Kusakabe?
Atsuya Kusakabe is a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer who teaches Tokyo Jujutsu High’s second-year students. Kusakabe seems to be a scared person who places a high value on protecting himself. To protect his interests, he is also prepared to act dishonestly. However, in the heat of the battle, he has shown some incredible bravery and skills.
Kusakabe is a renowned grade 1 sorcerer and a master swordsman of the New Shadow Style, even though he lacks a natural technique. Mei Mei, Kento Nanami, and Satoru Gojo all claim that Kusakabe is the most powerful grade 1 sorcerer. Kusakabe’s primary tool in combat is his swordplay, which mainly depends on physical strength.
To make up for his lack of natural skill, Kusakabe is proficient in the New Shadow Style. This necessitates precisely managed cursed energy applications, thus he has a great amount of cursed energy which is used carefully and can become a lethal weapon in itself. Right now, he is the only hope for Jujutsu Sorcerers against King of the Curses Sukuna.
Theory Suggests Kusakabe Might Be Able To Defeat Sukuna
There is a theory that suggests Sukuna won’t show off his strength too much against Kusakabe because Uraume earlier stated that Sukuna’s cursed energy increases against stronger opponents and decreases against weaker opponents. Because of this, Sukuna won’t be using all of his strength in this battle, but he will still be able to handle him.
Kusakabe’s one advantage, then, is that his opponent underestimates him, which presents him with an opportunity for a surprise attack, as long as Sukuna believes Kusakabe is too weak. And the outcome of their war may very well depend on that attack. Given the current twists and turns in Jujutsu Kaisen, this notion is no longer so farfetched.
Also, Kusakabe is the most underrated sorcerer seen till now in Jujutsu Kaisen. Still, almost every other sorcerer praises him and is pretty sure that he might be one of the strongest Grade One sorcerers. Thus, it can be said that Kusakabe is hiding either most of his strength, or he has a hidden technique that he has not yet used in the series.
