As the trend of turning video games into movies gains momentum, it appears that Watch Dogs is gearing up to join the league. According to reports from Deadline, the Ubisoft video game Watch-Dogs is set to receive the live-action movie treatment.
Actress Sophie Wilde is in talks to star in the film. This live-action movie will be based on the hit Ubisoft video game and take place within the same universe we know from playing the game.
Sounds like a thrilling ride for fans! However, amidst this exciting news, some fans have a few concerns as well.
Live-Action Movie Adaptation of Watch Dogs in the Works
The popular video game Watch Dogs might be getting its own movie adaptation. According to a recent report, Ubisoft’s hacking adventure is being eyed for a live-action film. As per reports from Deadline, A24 horror hit Talk To Me actor Sophie Wilde is in discussions to take on a starring role. The film will delve into the captivating universe of the beloved Ubisoft video game franchise.
New Regency is adapting the video game from Ubisoft. French director Mathieu Turi (The Deep Dark) is helming the Watch Dogs movie, written by Christie LeBlanc, known for Oxygen. Margaret Boykin, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann will produce.
The film “is set within the universe of Ubisoft’s blockbuster video game franchise,” per Deadline.
While plot details are not known, Watch Dogs takes place in different cities around the world, but with a twist – they’re fictionalized versions of real places. Each game follows a different hacker with their own reasons for diving in, but they all end up tangled up with their respective city’s criminal underworld.
Fans Have Some Concerns
Despite most of the fans calling it exciting news, there are still some concerns over it.
Ubisoft launched the first Watch Dogs video game in 2014, with three subsequent games coming along in its wake. The most recent was released in 2020, titled Watch Dogs: Legion.
Watchdogs was cool then they came out with Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, they both sucked.

Watch Dogs is only the latest Ubisoft game to be up for the big screen. Other projects that have been announced include a live-action Assassin’s Creed series for Netflix, but it was not well-received. The movie has an 18% Tomatometer score and a 43% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
