Stranger Things is one of the most popular and successful Netflix shows. It has continued to captivate audiences through four seasons, with a highly anticipated fifth and, potentially, final season on the horizon. However, fans might not see one of the characters in the upcoming season. Eduardo Franco, who was introduced as Jonathan’s best friend, Argyle, in the fourth season of the show, has shared in a recent interview that the makers have not reached out to him for the show’s upcoming season.
Eduardo Franco Might Not Appear in the Next Season of Stranger Things
Stranger Things Season 4 introduced some new characters, including Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson, Jamie Campbell Bower’s Vecna, aka 001, and Eduardo Franco as Argyle. Introduced as Jonathan’s best friend in California, Argyle provided much-needed humor for the intense plot.
Despite earning popularity for his comedic relief, there have been some assumptions that the character might not return in the next season, particularly because he is based in California, not Hawkins. And Franco suggested the same in a recent interview with Steve Varley.
“No worries, I appreciate that. It’s nice to hear that there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something,” the Booksmart actor said before adding, “But I never got a phone call.” Fans of the series and the actor, however, are not too pleased with the news and have shared their disappointment.
Fans Demand Justice For Eduardo Franco’s Argyle
People’s reaction to the recent update related to Eduardo Franco’s potential absence in Stranger Things Season 5 suggests that viewers did enjoy his character in the series and have been looking forward to his return as well. And the news has left them disappointed, with many calling it a huge loss for the show itself.

Many also asked for “justice for Argyle,” questioning how the show could abandon a character in the middle of the story. Fans also questioned why the makers have to get rid of the “funniest guy” in the show, saying that they do need the “comedic relief.”
The last episode of Season 4 features Argyle arriving in Hawkins with the California group and later at Hopper’s cabin, where Mike, Nancy, Will, and Jonathan reunite with Hopper and Joyce. Considering he was still in Hawkins by the end of the season, the character has been expected to appear in the next season as well. However, Eduardo Franco’s recent disclosure has raised uncertainties about whether he would be part of Season 5.
