Star Wars Outlaws is the current talk of the town it seems as new tidbits of information are making their way online for fans to indulge. The latest piece of info comes from an interview with the game’s creative director Julian Gerighty where he breaks down the game’s recent story trailer.
The director talked about the main story of Star Wars Outlaws and how it will differ from other games in the Star Wars universe by portraying the more underground factions as opposed to relying on Jedi action. Another thing to note was the mention of a mentor-type character for Kay Vess.
Who Is Jaylen And How Will He Impact Kay’s Story in Star Wars Outlaws?
In the interview, Julian Gerighty states that Jaylen in Star Wars Outlaws meets Kay after headhunting her through connections in the underground bounty hunter scene as he’s impressed with her talents and how she handles herself while also offering to teach her a thing or two along the way.
He wants to set Kay on the path to becoming a great bounty hunter and lay down the groundwork for her to do so. Despite his good intentions by mentoring Kay, Gerighty also hints that there will also be a personal gain for Jaylen as when players meet him in the game he will be somewhat down on his luck and looks to gain as much as he gives.
This mentorship can be related to Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace in that Qui-Gon met a young Anakin Skywalker and saw potential in him as a talented Jedi, going so far as to even declare him as the mythical chosen one to bring balance back to the force.
Although it’s unlikely that this relationship will follow the same path it will be interesting to see how Kay and Jaylen’s story will go throughout the story of Star Wars Outlaws. Whether there will be betrayal from either or if they stick together for the duration of the story.
How Does Star Wars Outlaws Differ From Other Games?
Most notably Outlaws will differ from other games in the franchise by being one of the few titles to not follow a Jedi/Sith force user with a lightsaber. Instead, the game focuses on bounty hunters and the more seedy underworld side of the galaxy.
This opens the door for a different approach to things like combat and choice of weaponry as players will lean towards more distant combat with more reliance on firearms and explosives.
Players will likely draw comparisons to titles such as Solo, The Book of Boba Fett, and the game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter as those are the more well-known titles to show more of the scoundrel side of Star Wars.
With cameos from Han Solo and Jabba the Hut already confirmed to be in the game it’s not outside the realms of reality to hope for an appearance from other bounty hunters.
