It has been quite the whirlwind for Ke Huy Quan. Long ago the American actor had called it quits on his acting career. Two decades down the lane, the success of Crazy Rich Asians motivated him to have a second go. And there could have been no better shot at redemption for the 52-year-old than starring in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. Adding Loki to his list would be the cherry on top. Starring in the Marvel series was an unforgettable experience for him. There remained one regret though – there were no reshoots.
Ke Huy Quan was thrilled to be a part of Loki
For Ke Huy Quan, shooting Loki would be an experience that he would cherish forever. The Raiders of the Lost Ark star loved every aspect of it, whether it be the rapport he shared with his co-stars like Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, or his affinity with the characters.
Speaking to Deadline, he opened up about how the entire experience had been. His second stint at acting has been nothing short of a dream run. After all who could boast of having won an Academy Award in an Academy Award-winning film and the only Marvel Cinematic Universe series that has been renewed for a second season? Quan does belong to an elite club.
Ke Huy Quan’s dream came to an early end because of one Loki record
Ke Huy Quan said,
“When I decided to become an actor again, [being part of the MCU] was at the top of my wishlist…They all welcomed me with wide open arms, and I was so happy.” (Deadline)
He couldn’t wait for fans to witness the spectacle. When the Tom Hiddleston-starrer started streaming, there was no one happier than the Encino Man star. And this was in no small part down to the fact that he loved the Loki family. He continued,
“Working with Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, the entire Loki family has just been incredible. We made this last year in London. I was there for four months… It was one of the best four months of my life. I’ve done a few shows before, and this was the first time where I didn’t want it to end.”
No wonder he was disappointed when he learned that there would be no reshoots for Loki.
A record that should not have been broken
Ke Huy Quan said,
“We were scheduled for reshoots this February, and I was waiting. My wife and I were looking forward to spending more time in London and with our Loki family. And all of a sudden we were told, ‘Oh, we don’t need any reshoots. It’s all good.’ I was kind of disappointed.”
In doing so, the show made MCU history – being the only Marvel show that didn’t have any reshoots. But the Finding Ohana star couldn’t care less for the feat. He continued,
“A lot of times actors dread doing reshoots, because you have to go back. You have to get back into character. But for this, I was really happy. I was looking forward to it.”
All he wanted was a chance to spend some time with his family.
