KingMakers is a brand-new upcoming action-strategy sandbox title from Redemption Road Games, makers of the 2019 combat road rage game Road Redemption. The Steam synopsis states:

Go back in time to a war-torn medieval era with a vast arsenal of modern weapons, change the course of history, and save the future in this epic action/strategy sandbox. Build your kingdom, grab a gun, and lead an army of thousands into massive, real-time simulated battles — solo or in co-op.

Ian Fisch, the creator of Road Redemption, recently announced the game on its official X account and dropped a trailer for it filled with in-game footage.

The video depicts a medieval knight praising the mysterious man from the future, the player, for transforming his village and training their army. The scene switches to a player plowing into a field of knights with a truck, and using snipers, shotguns, grenades, and other modern weaponry to take down groups of enemies.

In KingMakers, the player assumes the role of a man from a dying future. As humanity’s last hope, you travel 500 years back into the past, straight into medieval England. By changing the course of a ravenous war, you have a chance to warp history itself and create a better timeline for your future brethren.

With thousands of AI-powered soldiers across each battlefield that is supported by a special procedural animation system, every clash is guaranteed to be a unique and eventful ride. The tides of the battle will sway depending on how much you can influence the fight with your arsenal of upgraded modern tools and how well you command your army.

As a strategy game, the game allows players to fight in the battle themselves, and switch to a top-down 3D view to issue orders to your army of knights. What you want to do is completely up to you, and your strategy could make or break your army’s victory.

If you think this sounds like a fun game for you and a few friends to dive into together, then you’re in luck. The game supports co-op with up to three extra players, where you all work together to either storm the enemy’s castle or defend your own.

KingMakers will be released sometime in 2024, so you’ve got some time to decide: will you be playing? Let us know in the comments below!
