Out of all the Defenders introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s live-action world, two of the most iconic ones stand as Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. In the quest for getting some successful shows, there have been cameos spread across the Disney+ series of projects. From She-Hulk including Cox’s character to What If… being a show that quenched the fans’ thirst to see some underappreciated characters.
Ritter’s Jessica Jones had been rumored to make her much-awaited reappearance to the MCU ever since Charlie Cox first came back as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The ongoing rumors fluctuated regarding the changes that the phases came to see. However, according to the latest update, it would seem that Ritter had a scheduled appearance in Echo.
Krysten Ritter was Almost a Part of the Echo Series
Echo has been a series that has gone through so much already even before its scheduled release. From suffering because of the strikes to facing the short end of the straw after going through one change after another, the criticism that came alongside it all was not one that created much-needed hype. Since the release of the trailer, however, things have been different. Krysten Ritter was said to have an appearance in Echo according to MyTimeToShineHello on X.
As per the account, she was going to be the connection that was set between Echo and Daredevil: Born Again. Whether it was a proper role in the series or one as simple as a cameo, Ritter had a part to play in the series.
This appearance was reportedly removed from the series, making her more important to play a part in other shows including Charlie Cox’s series. Although it is not confirmed as to why this was done, many fans are just glad to have the actress return as Jessica Jones because of how much love she got while playing the character.
It is the Echo Series and Not the Jessica Jones or Daredevil Part 2
The clout of different characters that are brought to attract a series of fans in order to watch their projects is not a new tactic. The DC Universe suffered through this greatly in a manner of speaking because of how dependent it has been on its cameos.
When it comes to The Flash or Aquaman 2, there has been a heavy focus on the cameos rather than the plot. This is something Marvel is choosing to avoid. With Echo, it is bringing Daredevil into light but only to show that he is not completely absent from the lives of Maya and Wilson Fisk. Their lives are intertwined but it is not Matt Murdock’s show.
The series will solely focus on Maya and her journey, her back and forth with the Kingpin, and how her life has changed throughout the years. In this, it would give light to not only her character but also cater to the audience in expanding on her personality and abilities. When the opportunity is being provided, it is not fair to miss out on it.
