Portraying the role of Jessie’s girlfriend who gets addicted to cocaine and encourages her partner to do the same, Krysten Ritter had a terrible death scene in the AMC drama series. Although she knew her character’s death was imminent, she was not at all ready for the shooting of that scene.

Marvel Star Krysten Ritter Was Not Prepared For Breaking Bad

To be fair, no one was prepared for the turns that Breaking Bad would take. Starring in the role of Jane Margolis, Krysten Ritter worked alongside Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in the AMC drama series for quite some time.

Talking about the iconic death scene when Bryan Cranston’s Walter White took the first steps towards a negative ending, the Marvel star stated that she knew her character’s death was imminent. The scene when Jane Margolis sleeps next to Jesse Pinkman while both of them are on drugs was one of the most pivotal moments of Breaking Bad.

With Jane Margolis choking on her own vomit during an overdose, Krysten Ritter revealed that even though she knew her death was coming, she was not at all prepared for the shooting of the scene.

“So, I knew I was gonna die. I’m reading the script, I’m like, ‘Cool, rock and roll, she dies. So fun!’ But then you’re doing it and you’re in this death makeup; they built a cast for my chest so that Aaron Paul can really be pounding on my chest. And then Bryan [Cranston], after the take, you just see him sitting quietly in the corner. It was intense, and I will never forget it.”

It wasn’t just the physical demand of the shoot that terrified Krysten Ritter since the actress revealed that it was actually Bryan Cranston’s acting that made her feel…petrified.

Although Krysten Ritter’s character was actually dying in the scene, it was Bryan Cranston who stole the show with his acting. With his acting skills, Cranston portrayed the conflicted emotions of saving a human or risk losing his business partner. Although Walter White chose to save his business partner by letting Jane Margolis die, the shot wasn’t easy for Bryan Cranston to finish.

“I see the face of my own daughter in [Jane’s] place. And I didn’t want to, I didn’t plan on it,” said a teary-eyed Cranston.

Well, that is indeed a grisly and sad image to imagine while acting. With a high rating of 9.5/10 on IMDB and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, Breaking Bad is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
