Now, the latest rumors suggest that the casting for the upcoming series has started.
Lanterns was announced as a True Detective-esque project with two of the most fan-favorite Green Lanterns from the comics, Hal Jordan and John Stewart leading the show. Reportedly, the makers have put out certain criteria to cast the upcoming heroes of the DCU.
If the rumors are proven true, then John Krasinski can be an incredible choice to play Hal Jordan in the new DC Universe.
How can John Krasinski fit into DCU’s Lanterns?
In an Exclusive report by Nexus Point News, James Gunn is planning to start the filming of the Lanterns series in the first quarter of 2025. Reportedly the casting of the series has also begun and the makers are eyeing a White man between 43 to 49 and a young Black actor between 27 to 35 for the roles of Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
This has also started a buzz around the internet and the fans have started scratching their heads. However, the rumored criteria hint that John Krasinski can be the perfect fit for the role of Hal Jordan. Krasinski is presently 44, with an incredible physique, and can make a charming version of the popular DC superhero.
Previously, Krasinski was a fan-favorite choice for MCU’s Reed Richards. Although he appeared in the anticipated role in Doctor Strange 2, the Kevin Feige studio wasted the character badly. This can be an incredible chance for him to shine as a superhero.
John Krasinski has also played a wide range of characters in his career. Starting from the iconic Jim Halpert in The Office to the titular action hero in Jack Ryan, he has boasted his skills in different genres. If the makers stay true to the comics, the A Quiet Place star can turn out to be a fan-favorite pop culture icon despite his overconfidence and cunning humor.

Although the casting is yet to be announced, James Gunn recently announced the crew of the forthcoming series. The DCU co-CEO posted on his Instagram that the show “is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof.”
While Tom King is known to be a legendary figure in the world of DC Comics, Damon Lindelof is known for some renowned series like Lost, The Leftovers, and Watchmen. The star power doesn’t end here as Chris Mundy is renowned for his contributions to True Detective and Ozark.
Besides Hal Jordan and John Stewart, Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner will also join the cast after his introduction in Superman. If everything goes according to the plans, then DC may pull off an iconic piece of television.
