Green Lantern is one character that has been walked over for far too long, according to fans. While every other member of the Justice League was at least given a fighting chance, Hal Jordan was cast aside and never brought back into live action after the failure of the Ryan Reynolds film.
Many fans have been begging for the character to be brought back in some way or another; be it in a series, a stand-alone film, or on the sidelines of another character’s story. Considering just how iconic and important he is in the comics, many do not think it is fair that the franchise has gone so long without actually incorporating him into the main series.
However, with the reboot and the DC Universe almost starting from scratch, James Gunn may have just teased something, and fans cannot control their excitement.
James Gunn’s New Post Has Green Lantern Fans Excited
When it comes to franchises like DC, they have a long history of Easter eggs and teasing content years before it even goes into production. Fans expect nothing less and overanalyze everything that they release, and on the other side, the studio hides clues in the most inconsequential and unexpected places. It is perhaps because of this that fans cannot stop analyzing James Gunn’s recent Instagram post.
Reposting art by Davedevilpigjohnson on Instagram, the co-CEO of DC Studios shared a fanart of the Green Lantern’s fist, bloody and bruised. The center of focus is the ring that gives off an incandescent glow, shooting a beam of green light, which is a signature of the character.
The art is certainly stunning; however, it is not the strokes and the careful use of color that fans are freaking out over. It is the implication.
Fans Begin to Theorize
When someone like James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios, posts something on their social media, there is a lot of calculation that goes into it. This is especially the case when it comes to underrepresented characters who are in desperate need of a live-action reboot. The comments on the Green Lantern post have become flooded with fans asking what the post means.
“Does this mean you’ll direct the Green Lantern series? ” said _guimaraesr on Instagram.
“HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS *slams wall* he cant keep getting away with this” said a user named dreambuildbricks.
While some are simply celebrating the mention of their favorite, underrated character, others know better. Many fans have raised questions, wondering if the filmmaker is teasing the entry of the character.

Some even went as far as to ask if Gunn himself would be directing a series or film focused on the character of Hal Jordan.
