Sony hosted its first State of Play showcase of 2024 today, and revealed upcoming games on the PlayStation 5. It also announced titles for PSVR 2, including the dark fantasy RPG title Legendary Tales from Urban Wolf Games. A gameplay trailer for the title was released at the State of Play event and it exhibited how players will get to live out their superhero fantasies.
Legendary Tales has been available on SteamVR for quite some time, and is now going to make its way to PSVR 2 later this year and promises an exciting adventure for players with a quest-driven storyline and amazing features such as skill trees, crafting, dungeons, and much more.
Urban Wolf Games’ Legendary Tales Is Headed to PSVR 2
Legendary Tales was first launched on SteamVR in Early Access in September 2021 and is a first-person action RPG title where players can play in co-op with up to four friends and go on an adventure in dungeons and take on monsters as well as acquire items and explore.
The game is set in a fantasy environment and features physics-based combat featuring magic spells and medieval weapons. The weapons include shields, hammers, bow and arrow, and more that will give players the feel of being Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, or even Doctor Strange. A legendary shield called Altair gives pure Captain America vibes.
The gameplay trailer revealed that the game has skill trees, fully-explorable dungeons, potion-making, and much more. The physics-based fighting system will let players feel the impact of every hit and will change as per a player’s fighting style and weapon choices.
There will also be randomly generated items that will allow players to collect and try out everything that the game has to offer and users can even craft weapons with the crafting system.
The magic system also has diverse magical powers from fire and ice to lightning. While Legendary Tales is a co-op multiplayer title, players can also play it solo and enjoy the thrilling experience alone. There is an attribute system and skill tree, allowing players with several skills and abilities to build their character as per their wishes, for a more immersive experience.
Legendary Tales Has Been Developed for Multiplayer VR Since the Beginning
Byeong Jik Kang, Founder and CEO of Urban Wolf Games explained via PlayStation Blog that the developer wanted Legendary Tales to be “a multiplayer VR experience” ever since they started working on the game, adding that he was “obsessed with making players feel immersed” in the in-game world and it has always been the priority during the whole development process.
Jik Kang added that everything including the gameplay was only considered for VR. The game will have all the immersive features of PSVR 2 such as 4k support, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, headset haptic feedback, and more. Legendary Tales also features Ultra-Sharp Dynamic Foveation Rendering, which the developer says is “2.0-2.4 times” higher than the original resolution and will be running smoothly at a native 90 frames per second.
The developer mentioned that it is “all about satisfying feedback” and that is what it strives to do with the game. Legendary Tales will be launched for PSVR 2 on February 8 and the Steam full launch is coming on the same day as well.
