And Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister not only embraced this one of the most compelling antagonists in modern television history but embodied it to perfection as well. Headey’s performance drives home the emotional weight of every twist and turn of the character.
However, Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn, two iconic characters of the series, despite being there from the show’s inception in 2011, never shared the screen owing to their fiery and fractious past relationship. Even Headey ensured that no such scene comes where they both need to go along.
Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn Were Kept Apart in Game of Thrones for this Reason
Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey refused to appear with co-star Jerome Flynn on-screen. They never shared any scene with each other on Game of Thrones.
Despite their characters working together in a plot to murder the Lannister brothers, Game Of Thrones’ Ser Bronn of the Blackwater (Jerome Flynn) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) are never seen together.
The reason was allegedly due to the fallout from their previous ‘very turbulent relationship.’ And the show’s creators, probably for that reason, kept these two Thrones favorites apart.
According to a show insider they had to be kept apart because of a ‘bad break-up’.
“They kept the full extent of it secret but it was a very turbulent relationship and it has been very awkward on set.”
“Lena has opened up to her trusted friends. She appears to have a genuine hate towards him,” the source reportedly told the Sun.
The two had known each other for a long time and first starred together in the ITV drama Soldier, Soldier in the 1990s. In 2002, there were rumors that the actors were dating.
Reports claim they broke up in 2014, when season four of Game Of Thrones was on air.
Jerome Flynn Addressed His Sour Relationship with Lena Headey
Jerome Flynn once addressed reports of the behind-the-scenes feud with his ex-girlfriend Lena Headey.
He was asked about their rumored tiff by a fan at Nashville’s Con of Thrones convention. The actor replied:
“We were actually in the same scene together,” he said. “And the last time I saw Lena we were speaking, so I wouldn’t believe everything you read and… (the media) can get pretty desperate for stories.”
Talking about Lena, he said, “Lena’s a wonderful person and a wonderful actress.”
For the uninitiated, the scene to which the actor mentioned really actually took place. In the first episode of Season 3 of Game of Thrones, Cersei, played by Lena Headey, passes by the singer’s role, Bronn. It technically counts as the duo sharing a screen together!
