James Gunn indeed has been making continuous headlines ever since he grabbed the chair of co-CEO in the DC studios. Gunn who is well known for his work in the superhero genre raised the hopes of fans to see a better DCU. But things didn’t actually go ahead as fans expected them to, the new co-CEO of DCU pushed for reconstructing the DCU, resulting in some major changes which included Henry Cavill’s exit.

With Cavill’s exit, fans have been left wondering about the future of the universe and their favorite heroes. Gunn’s recent statement of only moving forward with a handful of superheroes in the new DCU has added to their worries about the fate of their favorite superheroes. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy director made it clear that the Blue Beetle with his upcoming movie will continue to stay in the universe, ensuring Xolo Maridueña’s future appearances.

Xolo Maridueña’s On The Future Of Blue Beetle

Xolo Maridueña will soon appear as Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle in the upcoming Blue Beetle. The Cobra Kai star, talking about his upcoming film, shared that there are several cameos of other DC stars, which can easily be recognized by anyone who follows the DC. 

“I think if you’re a DC fan, there’s going to be more than just one character that you recognize. I can tell you that.”

Maridueña also highlighted the fact that he is already ready to make future appearances as Blue Beetle if given a chance as he and his team delivered their best in the upcoming movie. 

If we get one movie or a trilogy and fold this into the Justice League sh*t, we’re ready for the whole nine. For me and Angel [Manuel Soto, director] and the team, we kicked as* with this movie. It just depends on numbers.”

James Gunn On The Future Of Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle is finally set to make his big-screen appearance, but the co-CEO of the DC Studios, James Gunn, has already added to the potential of the character by stating that he will be one of the few handfuls of superheroes who will enter his new DCU. After the news of Blue Beetle’s future, fans have pitched for the inclusion of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, who made her debut in the DC universe through The FlashCalle’s performance was much appreciated by the fans who expressed their desire to see more future appearances of Supergirl.

It looks like the confirmation from James Gunn regarding Blue Beetle’s future has raised fans’ hope to see several other superheroes in the new DCU who have not been explored much in the past including Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. It is yet to be seen whether or not Calle’s Supergirl will make her way into Gunn’s new DCU.

Blue Beetle is scheduled to be released on August 18, 2023.
