It has recently been announced that Diablo 4 will be receiving an event called The Lunar Awakening, which is inspired by Chinese New Year and will bring with it all kinds of loot, fun mechanics, and double XP for those struggling to get those final levels.
At the moment, there is only a short 45-second trailer that shows us the overall content that will be coming to Diablo 4 with this new event, and from the look of it, there will be a lot of fun to be had while this event takes place.
What is included within Diablo 4’s Lunar Awakening event?

With this new event, there are plenty of different activities, open-world events, and even new dungeon affix’s that can provide a whole new experience to your dungeon delving experience. Hopefully, with this new event, players will get a whole new look at the game and begin to enjoy the wonderful event that Activision Blizzard has in store for us.
To start, one of the pieces of content that is coming with this new update is new lunar shrines, which are able to provide you with buffs that can help you take out even more enemies than usual while also providing you with classic buffs like infinite energy, 100% crit chance, and plenty more.
Along with this new type of shrine, there will also be an XP and movement buff, which players can easily use to their advantage, whether it be in the open world or in a dungeon, as you explore the depths and fight monsters with ease.
As stated above, these shrines won’t just be in the overworld; they will also be available with dungeons in the game. There will also be a boost to glyph XP at the end of a nightmare dungeon, but there is only a chance that this affect will actually trigger.
One of the main draws in this seasonal event is that players will be able to earn what is known as ancestral favour, which they can turn in to acquire specific seasonal awards, like a new set of armour, a special Chinese New Year-inspired horse, or even some cosmetic items.
When will the Lunar Awakening Event be active, and for how long?
Since this is a Chinese New Year-inspired event, it makes sense that it will progress throughout the entirety of February and end sometime in March, but at the moment, there is no definitive end date for the event.
However, we now know the start date of the event, which was announced during the trailer on Twitter/X, which has announced that the Lunar Awakening event will begin on February 6th, and along with this announcement there is also a link to the entire patch notes.
Within these patch notes, there are plenty of quality of life changes that will be coming to Diablo 4, whether that be Seneschal buffs that improve the tuning stones of the Season of the Construct, which at the moment are already rather tough if you use the right ones, so having a buff on these tuning stones is a big win for the community.
This isn’t the first time that Diablo 4 has done an event like this, but this event could change how players see the future of Diablo 4, as there will hopefully be more content like this in the future that could increase the players chances for better loot, unique cosmetics, and more.
