It seems that Madame Web has unwittingly become a smash hit, falling squarely into the category of “so bad it’s good.” In the past few months, the only thing the film has managed to get right is making tons of headlines be it all for the wrong reasons, but the film was anything but forgettable, at least in the news cycle. Now, folks are itching to know what all the fuss is about. Despite nobody taking it seriously as an actual superhero flick and a string of bad reviews, thanks to its wonky dialogue and choppy editing, people are still lining up for a peek. It’s a marvel, just not the kind anyone expected!
Everything That is Wrong with Madame Web!
In hindsight, it seems like Madame Web was practically set up for failure from the get-go. With a budget of only around $80 million, the movie embodies everything that typically makes a superhero film cringe-worthy. And to add insult to injury, it was penned by the infamous American writer duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, known for their knack for delivering particularly awful movies like Morbius, Gods of Egypt, and The Last Witch Hunter. It appears they’re continuing their streak with this Dakota Johnson film as well. It’s like they’ve made a sport out of it!
Currently, Madame Web is standing at 13% on the Rotten Tomatoes scale. With a script so messy and dialogue so wonky, that it makes every scene a meme-worthy moment, even when it’s not intended. The poor actors find themselves trapped in roles so absurdly unplayable. In the end, only one thing can justify this movie and that is someone threw a bunch of half-baked ideas into a blender, hit the button hoping for the best.
This has to go down in history as one of Sony’s biggest flops ever brought to life, a true disgrace to the Spider-Man saga, which fans initially had such high hopes for. There was the buzz, there was a cast that, though somewhat misplaced, could have potentially worked. But alas, the combination of terrible marketing, a messy plot, and dialogues so cringe-worthy it could make a grown man cry is what ultimately sealed this movie’s fate as a colossal failure.
Madame Web, The Trainwreck You Can’t Look Away From!
But surprisingly, the barrage of bad reviews and negative word-of-mouth has turned the movie into a bizarre object of curiosity for audiences. People are now flocking to see it just for the sheer entertainment value and to witness the train wreck firsthand. Fans are even urging other moviegoers to experience the spectacle while they can, just so they can fully grasp what all the fuss is about. It’s become less of a film and more of a must-see event for all the wrong reasons.
Here is what the fans have to say about the movie,
Been reading MADAME WEB reviews for the past hour, all of them warning their readers to stay away from MADAME WEB with the same sorta urgency that you might try to stop someone from entering a burning building with, aaaand I dunno I kinda think I’m gonna have to go see MADAME WEB

If I ever make a movie and it's objectively "not good," I hope it's *so bad* that people want to see it out of curiosity.
One end of the other, no in between.
And now I wanna see MADAME WEB while drunk.

I've been theorizing that the movie started out bad.
And it was cheaper to make it worse and get "inadvertent comedy" watches than it was to make it good.
Then they brought all the TikTokers to the premiere.
The fix is in.

I laughed my ass off.
I said "Wait a minute" a lot.
Do I recommend? God, no.
Do I think it should be seen? Fuck, yes.— The Slumgullion 🐀 (@TheSlumgullion) February 17, 2024
Please go see Madame Web, it's unintentionally the greatest comedy of the decade. Plus Drafthouse curated a really silly pre-show to set the vibe.

I compare it to people saying "Don't go on that death trap of a roller coaster" or "Don't look up Chris-Chan, you'll regret it" Well, now I'm just fucking interested to do it. XD

The uproar has completely piqued my interest.

So, it seems that the Dakota Johnson-Sydney Sweeney film has in fact stumbled into the spotlight as the unintended comedy of the year! The film can probably start clearing some shelf space for that inevitable Razzie Award it’s bound to snag next season. Who knew a movie could achieve such greatness by aiming for the exact opposite? Utterly hilarious, but definitely not what anyone was aiming for!
Madame Web is now playing in theaters!
