The scene in the discussion took place in Killers of the Flower Moon when DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart was taught discipline by his uncle Willam Hale, played by Robert De Niro. It was after Burkhart failed to carry out a mission given by Hale against the Osage community.

“I don’t think that was in the first script. That was something that was added, and it’s shocking in the film. I do remember doing them quite a few times and thinking, ‘Oh, that must hurt’. There was some padding on his butt. But you could tell De Niro was really hitting him…Leo is game for so much. He’ll do anything.”

It is evident from the statements that both the leads as well as Martin Scorsese take their job very seriously and always try to make everything look perfect.
