After the official teaser debut of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3, many fans speculated as to who might be the actor playing Wolverine’s variant, Patch. The only visual the audience had was a guy in a classic white blazer and the iconic hairstyle.
Over the past few years, there have been a couple of actors rumored to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in future Marvel films. After the actor supposedly retired from the role in 2017’s Logan, he came out of his long break to play Wolverine one last time.
Taron Egerton On The Possibility Of Playing Wolverine Variant In Deadpool 3
Fans who are constantly updated with the news about Hugh Jackman’s successor as Wolverine are aware that there are two actors contending for the role: Taron Egerton and Daniel Radcliffe. The former rose to fame for his appearance in the Kingsman films while the latter is widely recognized as the boy who lived in Harry Potter movies.
Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed who plays the Wolverine variant in Deadpool 3, and it seems fans will only find out once the movie arrives in theaters. Still, many could not help but campaign for their own favorite actor, and it seems the majority wants Egerton to portray Patch.
Patch is the alter-ego of Wolverine that he took after the downfall of the X-Men mutants. He went to Madripoor and assumed the persona to keep enemies off his trails. Egerton once told The New York Times that he felt excited but hesitant to play Wolverine, a role that has been linked to him for quite some time now.
“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that. I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it. Hopefully, if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”
However, in more recent interviews, he seemed to have lost interest in the role and claimed he’s too old to play Wolverine. He admitted to Total Film via The Direct:
“I think that ship has probably sailed. Yeah, that whole Wolverine thing – I get asked about it and no matter what you say, it gets turned into what people want you to say about it. I’m not going to be the guy to play Wolverine. There’s no signs pointing towards that being the thing.”
The thing is, he could also be pulling an Andrew Garfield-style interview here. As an actor, he surely does not want to spoil the fun and surprise for the audience. Only time will tell if Egerton is indeed telling the truth or not.

Daniel Radcliffe, another fan-cast favorite, debunked the rumors that he’s working out to play Wolverine. The actor previously showed off his gains and claimed that he was only doing it for himself.
