Netflix’s Daredevil series has been regarded as one of the best superhero shows of all time. Many fans believed it showed the most organic and authentic portrayal of Daredevil yet as Charlie Cox put on the performance of his career. Thankfully, Cox is returning soon and now it appears Marvel might have a plan to turn Netflix’s Defenders into MCU’s street-level Avengers following Daredevil: Born Again.

Just like all good things eventually come to an end, the same happened for Daredevil. The show ended after its third season on Netflix as the streaming platform stopped producing Marvel shows in general. As we already noted above, Cox will be reprising his role in Daredevil: Born Again, but already came back last month as part of Echo.

Despite Charlie Cox stating that the upcoming MCU show, Daredevil: Born Again, won’t continue the Netflix series, the concept of the multiverse in comic book films has blurred lines. Initially considered a separate entity, recent developments suggested that Marvel may no longer view the Netflix series as entirely unrelated to the MCU.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Marvel Cinematic Universe executive producer Brad Winderbaum confirmed that the original Netflix series is now considered part of the MCU canon. He noted a previous cautious approach in determining content for the “Sacred Timeline.”

I can say that up until this point, we’ve been a little bit cagey about what’s Sacred Timeline, what’s not Sacred Timeline. That was born of, frankly, a period at the studio where we were like, ‘We have to stick the landing with the vendors.’ It was another part of the company developing the Netflix stuff. We were aware of what they were doing, they were aware of what we were doing, but there was a lot to balance anyway.”

The caution originated during Marvel Studios’ emphasis on concluding the Avengers storyline. However, with the passage of time and increased integration of stories, Winderbaum now expresses confidence in including the Netflix series. Winderbaum said,

“But now that some time has passed; now that we see actually how well integrated the stories are, I think that I personally, Brad Winderbaum, would be confident in saying it is part of the Sacred Timeline.”

Many fans are undoubtedly pleased that Daredevil is now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fulfilling a desire they had expressed for many years. Of course, this also makes fans wonder about more returns in the MCU in the future as well.

According to Comicodigy, rumors have suggested that Marvel has plans to revive other canceled Marvel shows, including both live-action adaptations and animated series. Of course, this means all of Netflix’s old Marvel shows could return.

Characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist were all heavily featured in The Defenders. The Defenders are essentially a street-level version of the Avengers. With the MCU planning to revive long-dead Marvel shows, there is a possibility that characters like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist will return to the forefront – something that fans of the characters would more than love. Of course, none of this is guaranteed yet, so we will have to see what will happen in the end.
