The Overwatch-like upcoming superhero game, Marvel Rivals, has a mouth-watering lineup that will allow fans to engage in their own Avengers: Secret Wars-like battles. It’s still in its early stages of development, according to NetEase’s Discord channel, but the details that have sprung out on the internet are sure to infuse the fans with some more excitement.

Many characters, including Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Loki, and more, were unveiled during the trailer NetEase dropped a month ago. Players received some character-reveal trailers later, of which the latest was centered around Hela. Nonetheless, there is another character that hasn’t been depicted officially, but fans already have queries about it.

Marvel movie fans might know Psylocke character from X-Men: Apocalypse as the woman running around with a pink psychic lasso and sword. Since the character was created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe in 1976, the moniker Psylocke has changed hands from one body to another.

And that’s also the reason fans were curious about who would make their appearance in the game. Will it be Betsy Braddock or the Japanese mutant ninja Kwannon? The answer to this is none of them. One leaker, dubbed Miller Ross, clarified this in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

It will be Sai from Peach Momoko’s Demon Days Saga. The pseudonymous artist from Japan is well known for blending the country’s folklore and Marvel stories as a part of the Stormbreakers program. Psylocke of that reality appears to be stronger than the one in the main universe. She was able to take down the Juggernaut with relative ease.

Marvel Rivals is going a step further as far as the character roster is concerned. Again, courtesy of Miller Ross, he shared a list containing the names of 39 characters. There will be more, but it is unlikely that they’ll be playable or not.

The thread mentioned the details that sprung out of datamining but it didn’t mention the names of non-playable characters.

The game does put an Overwatch-like spin on it and will feature an event dubbed Timestream Entanglement. The world players will see is a result of the event, and some fans believe they have spotted a character from another game.

Officially, only 18 characters have been confirmed by NetEase at the time of writing, including the ones who got a reveal trailer. Neither do we have a release date for the game, but it could arrive at some point next year. Recently, we all came to know about the silent demise of The Great Web. Marvel Rivals could make up for the lost gem.
