There is exciting news for Marvel’s Contest of Champions fans as Kabam has announced two new characters. One of which is a far cry from the much-loved character we know them to be, whilst the other is the result of the recent player vote from a selection of villains to find the worst of the worst.
With Kabam introducing update V43.0 at the start of the month, in addition to new characters came various bug fixes and balance updates. There was also a new challenge titled Winter of Woe and new quests themed with the new Lunar Year and Valentine’s Day, in keeping with the month of February.
Who are the new characters in Marvel’s Contest of Champions?
As can be seen in the update from the start of the month, there have already been two new characters added, Ironheart and Dusk. However, it may be the latest additions that may just see a few players sit up and take notice, one of which is undoubtedly a popular character in their own right but may not be in this iteration.
In one universe Groot may be an essential part of the Guardians of the Galaxy but in this, he is Deathless King Groot. Players both new and existing can unlock this character by completing in-game activities and collecting Deathless King Groot but be warned, these are only available for a limited time.
With the recent Summoner’s Choice Champions vote, players were tasked with voting for which nefarious champion they would like to see in the upcoming event. From a pool of eight characters, the votes were counted and the outright winner is Shathra, appearing later this year.
New challenges and quests for Marvel’s Contest of Champions.
With it being the year of the dragon, what better way to celebrate the Lunar New Year than with a corresponding challenge? Kabam has embraced this wholeheartedly and players could earn Red Envelope Crystals by completing the themed quest which promises some rich rewards.
In addition to these are the various updates and bug fixes, some of which will no doubt be welcomed by fans. There are various updates to the Red Guardian to address the cooldown and increase the debuff, amongst other things. The issue with the Battlegrounds leaderboard has been addressed as has the problem with Health and Attack values in the pre-fight scene for Battlegrounds.
Previously there have been other exciting character additions like Werewolf by Night, so it will be interesting to see how these new additions will be embraced by fans of Marvel’s Contest of Champions. With the new characters, quests, challenges and various updates, there is plenty for fans of the game to look forward to this month.
