Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the continuation of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man and the spinoff title: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and features for the first time both Spider-Men as playable heroes and given how fragile the Marvel Multiverse has been especially in Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, certain references like cosmetic items and potential cameos are welcome additions to the already expansive universe.

Being one of the most popular faces of Marvel, Spider-Man inspired kids all over the world that anyone can be a hero and that is heavily emphasized in Across the Spider-Verse where they revealed that there is an infinite amount of universes that are home to different versions of Spider-Man. At this point, it is an honor to be the Spider of a specific universe, Peter Parker and Miles Morales aren’t the only ones, and not just the only version in the vast multiverse.

Among the things Insomniac has perfected with their adaptation is giving the heroes a large wardrobe that houses a collection of their different suits throughout different media like comics and movies, but after seeing the latest entry in Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy, fans are vocal about which skin they want to see an update.

Canonically referred to as Pter Ptarker of Earth-66, a dimension where dinosaurs reigned supreme, fans want to see this in some way on the video game. There is also a side mission that involves Miles and Peter collecting Spider-Bots that aren’t made by them which fans can piece together that the multiverse is involved.

Once all of these are collected, a cut scene that features a character that was omitted, Delilah is rendered differently from the in-game characters and features a portal that resembles Miguel O’Hara’s from the film.

It was a short cameo and Marvel has been doing that for quite some time. It may not be as mindblowing as Scream’s appearance in the game, but it was still a deep cut for those who have seen the concept art book of the animated film.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is anything but average, with our very own Luke Addison saying:

I spent the majority of my time with a gigantic smile on my face, followed by a slew of emotions that left me emotionally exhausted. If you’re a Spider-Man fan, be it film, comics, animated TV shows, or early video game adaptations, this is absolutely something you should experience yourself.

Sony owns the film rights to Spider-Man and has made a few decent films, and even shared him for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite not owning the entity entirely, they are still entitled to some rights that only they could benefit from, hence, the exclusivity of the Insomniac Games and the fact they were acquired by Sony in 2019. The directors of the Spider-Verse films didn’t waste time and featured a quick voice cameo of Yuri Lowenthal in the movie, a brief second cameo that fans will remember.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues Sony’s streak of victories with the franchise. Regardless of how some of their projects pan out, it is undeniable that they have done more right than wrong with the character. Would you like to see more skins added to the game? Share your thoughts below!
