As Venom runs off to heal the rest of New York, Peter has to deal with Scream before moving forward. If you’re having trouble defeating Scream, here is a comprehensive guide on how to beat Scream in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
When Do You Face Scream In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Harry has finally turned into Venom. His relationship with Peter has become tainted and the symbiote warps his mind. Twisting Harry’s goal to heal the world and the symbiote’s want to take it over, Harry is rationalizing what the voices in his head are saying.
Symbiotes are spawning all over the city in Venom’s efforts for world domination. Peter and Miles catch wind of this and create a Sonic Burst to deal with the new creatures. By pressing L1 + the circle button, release the Sonic Burst to temporarily stun the Symbiotes. After helping Miles save Ganke and his mom, the duo split up to find Harry. After stopping by Oscorp Tower, Peter decides to call MJ to give her the news about Harry.
Peter is too late as Harry is already at MJ’s front door. When Peter arrives back home, Harry is waiting for him to arrive with MJ sitting across from him. Unable to convince Peter, Harry formally introduces himself as Venom and takes MJ hostage. Using his symbiote powers, he transforms MJ into Scream, a noteworthy symbiote character in Marvel Comics. It’s up to Peter to fight Scream to save MJ and heal their relationship.
How To Beat Scream In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Scream will be jump on rooftops and throw heavy attacks at you. When she whips her hair to attack, you can parry this move to give yourself an opportunity to counter. Time your L1 tap correctly and the parry will be successful.
Her other attack is a hand swipe going left to right. After both swipes, Scream will perform a blue/crush attack. Because these attacks cannot be blocked or parried, you have to dodge away from Scream. Afterward, you can punch her to deal damage.
When Scream loses some health, she will jump onto rooftops to throw projectiles. Do not try to web-strike towards her because the projectiles will hit you on the way up. Play it smart and be patient. Dodge the projectiles by pressing the circle button when the indicator appears over Peter’s head. In between Scream’s projectile shots, shoot your webs to cocoon her. When she’s wrapped up, then you can web-strike to land attacks.
You can also stop her movement by using one of your gadgets by pressing R1 + square, triangle, circle, or x. Save your Sonic Burst (R1 + circle) for one of the later phases. Instead, look for one of the cars nearby that has the L1 + R1 prompts on it. When you press both buttons, the car alarm will go off, stunning Scream and giving you a chance to attack. Press L1 + square, triangle, circle, or x to perform one of Peter’s special attacks to deal more damage as well.
When the second phase begins, Scream will now throw more attacks that need to be blocked, dodged, or parried. It’s three attacks in a row where she swipes her hand left to right followed by a hair thrust.
Continue to be patient as she jumps on rooftops to throw projectiles. If you haven’t pulled the car alarms yet, do it now as the third phase will teleport you to a different area of the street. After pulling the alarms, use all your special attacks to output the most damage. Parry any attacks where red circles above Scream’s or Peter’s head to finish off this phase. How to beat Scream? You’re now halfway there.
We see moments of MJ fighting back on the symbiote but she can’t overcome it just yet. After tackling Peter toward the construction area, it’s time to get to the final phases of the Scream boss fight. More objects are available in the environment to stun Scream such as new cars and racks of steel pipes. Activate them by pressing L1 + R1 when you’re nearby.
Scream will slam her hair into the ground, shaking the screen for one second. Don’t let this throw you off and remind yourself where you are in the fight. You can block/parry this attack if you’re close enough. Web up Scream whenever you can to land attacks on her.
If you’re in desperate need of health, use your webs to slowly build up focus. When the focus bar is full, press down to heal yourself because Scream throws a lot of attacks that deal a significant amount of damage. Otherwise, save two bars up to perform a finisher, taking away a chunk of Scream’s health.
When the last phase begins, Scream can throw multiple crush attacks. Don’t get close until at least two crush attacks are performed. After that, you can whale away.
Don’t web-strike towards Scream as she throws more crush attacks that cannot be blocked or parried. Play it smart and keep your distance. If you web Scream up first, then you can web-strike and deal damage. Use the Sonic Burst (R1 + Circle) after all the car alarms and steel pipes are used, giving yourself another chance to attack.
Continue to cycle through your special attacks with L1 + square, triangle, circle, or x. The Scream fight will be finished before you know it.
Using Accessibility Options For Scream In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Scream’s attacks are fast and deadly. If you get hit by too many of them, you will fall quickly. If you’re having trouble dodging or parrying her attacks, consider activating the Game Speed accessibility option.
When activated, game speed will slow down the action giving you an easier time to parry or dodge Scream’s attacks. Enhanced auto-aim will snap you toward the car alarms or steel pipes, giving you an opportunity to attack. Other accessibility options such as QTE autocomplete are not that useful here since most of the combat is hand-to-hand. Lowering the difficulty will also make Scream an easier opponent if his output damage is too high.
And that’s how to beat Scream. There are only a few more boss fights to take down in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but if you thought Scream was hard, you’re in for a shock.
