The Great Web would have been the most wildest and satisfying Spider-Man project because it allows a player with their friends to team up against multiversal threats and take on activities that were usually done solo in the previous games. Fans were ecstatic and disappointed after seeing the trailer of the canceled game and remained in awe of how great the concept art was and how the quality was better than traditional comics.

When a project enters early development, studios hire artists to draw up some concept art that would later be used to inspire or as a basis for the final product. While not all of it will be a shot-for-shot perfect recreation, the design and feel would feel the same.

The leaked road map trailer for the game has surfaced, accompanied by a full trailer with complete voice-overs and everything, it would suggest that the game was nearly done. The use of vehicles would have been introduced to the franchise judging from the concept art. Glimpses of what could have been the biggest superhero game of all time have gone out of the window.

Fans would have gotten to see more of the Multiverse through the various lenses of Spider-Man. There is no limit to what Insomniac could have done given the amount of creative freedom that they are given. Pieces of the Marvel lore are being utilized in a cohesive way that makes sense from a narrative point of view, as well as fan service.

The leaked concept art featured well-known heroes like Miles Morales, Silk, Gwen Stacy, and Peter Parker walking out of a web-designed multiversal portal. The beauty of this is that it will allow the developers to take anything from previous Spider-Man projects and use it to their advantage. The MCU fleshed out the concept through Loki, even more so in Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and despite being poorly received even by Hideo Kojima, Madame Web is a part of it all

The foundation was already laid out, with a foreseeable future of potential updates and content variety but the dream ended on a regrettable strand of the web. Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Great Web had the potential of being the next big thing until its untimely cancelation for reasons unknown, but at least fans got a glimpse of what could have been.
