Scottish star David Tennant has an impressive repertoire of acting projects that puts him among some of the most versatile actors of his generation. Prominently known for his character in the popular BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, Tennant’s manic turn as Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was also a massive fan favorite.
The Hamlet actor also starred in the supernatural comedy series Good Omens along with co-star Michael Sheen. Ahead of taking on host duties for the BAFTAs 2024, Tennant sat down to answer some fan questions, which included his opinion on a passionate kiss between him and Sheen in the show. The celebrity replied with an entertaining and cheeky answer.
David Tennant On Sharing A Kiss With Michael Sheen in Good Omens
David Tennant is well known to play eccentric and interesting characters on screen. Following his successful stint as the quirky time-travelling Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who, Tennant signed up for the supernatural comedy series Good Omens in which he played a demon named Crowley who joins forces with angel Aziraphale, played by Michael Sheen, to prevent the arrival of Satan.
The entertaining wit and chemistry between the two protagonists led to the show having a successful 2 seasons. One of the highlights of season 2 was a sizzling kiss shared between Tennant and Sheen. In a recent chat with The Guardian ahead of hosting the BAFTAs 2024, the Harry Potter star answered some fan questions including one in which a viewer was curious to know which actor enjoyed the kiss more in Good Omens. Tennant, with his razor-sharp humor, replied,
“Who enjoyed it the most? Presumably, Michael was thrilled. How could he not be?”
The actor continued in this hilarious vein when he confirmed that Sheen had prepared well by brushing his teeth and assuring that his mouth odor was not a dampener. Tennant also stated that there was no personal awkwardness between them during the filming of the scene.
David Tennant Was Thrilled To Be In Doctor Who Again
Having taken up the iconic character in Doctor Who in 2005, David Tennant quickly went on to become one of the most loved and successful actors to have played the role over the years. His unique and energetic portrayal of the extraterrestrial doctor with a dash of humor made him synonymous with the role and the show.
In 2023, Tennant and his co-star Catherine Tate were given the opportunity to revisit their famous characters to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the show by filming three special episodes to mark the occasion. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about his excitement and pleasure on reprising the role, the Jessica Jones actor said,
“Just an unexpected treat to get to revisit something that had been such a lovely wonderful experience 15 years ago. To get to have another proper runaround, in an albeit slightly different long coat, was a joy I never really imagined.”
The 3-episode special, which aired between November 25th and December 9th, 2023, also became the first Doctor Who episodes to stream on Disney+. Following this appearance, Tennant gave way to Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa, who took over as the Fifteenth Doctor and the first Black actor to play the character.
