Modern Warfare 3 is barely a month old, and the number of complaints from players and the flak it has received from its community have been mind-bending. There isn’t anything about the game’s lackluster offering that hasn’t been said before. The single-player mode in Modern Warfare 3 is a lost cause, and the multiplayer and zombie modes are perhaps the game’s sole offerings.
Once again, the game has been criticized by its player base for getting something wrong. The SBMM is incredibly flawed, and the latest map, Meat, is drawing criticism as it is causing players to respawn right where they die, causing chaos. Another issue has popped up; the community has called out a redundant feature in the game’s mechanics. The feature being criticized is streaks, which are available during a match.
Players have voiced their outrage on social media regarding streaks in Modern Warfare 3. For those unaware, streaks are in-game bonuses received after killing multiple players without getting killed. The complaints are regarding the feature, which is supposed to be an advantage, and an incentive to pull off some crazy multi-kill scenarios, which is, more often than not, nothing but a buzzkill.
Modern Warfare 3 Players Call Streaks Kaput
It seems that Modern Warfare 3 cannot catch a break. There has been enough criticism that has been hurled at the game. The single-player campaign for the FPS was so horrendous that it was even dissed by the voice actor who played Kratos in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok. The players are totally through with how little the kill streaks impact the game.
The entire purpose of kill streaks is to help a player high on momentum get extra kills, which is precisely why kill streaks cost kills to be activated in the FPS title. It seems like the current scenario is very far from the bonus’ intended use case. In a Reddit post on the game’s official subreddit, a user named cbb0722 expressed outrage over how streaks offer nothing substantial when activated. The user wrote that:
Something needs to be done about streaks being shot down almost instantly. I was playing meat 24/7 for a long while yesterday and every time my self or a teammate called in a air streak…it was shot down in a matter of seconds
Continuing, the user also shared how hard-earned streaks in Modern Warfare 3 that take kills in multiples of 4 and 5 should not be so vulnerable that they are shot down just after getting one or two kills. It sounds incredibly fair to have streaks contributing substantially toward a player’s K/D before being shot down.
Another post on the game’s subreddit discussed one streak in particular, the swarm streak, stating how it would only last for a few seconds and sometimes to no avail, not getting even a single kill. Another user reported that they were kicked for inactivity while using streaks.
They even attached gameplay footage in their post. Another user reported the cruise missile streak, which isn’t able to eliminate enemies and is instead shot down almost instantly. There was yet another post by a player on the game’s official subreddit criticizing the game’s kill streaks, highlighting the behavior of the VTOL streak.
The player mentioned that the aircraft could be shot down within 5 seconds of its usage and offered virtually nothing to the player who uses them. Modern Warfare 3 is part of a franchise that has consistently delivered great titles for decades.
The current state of the franchise has seen it recycle most elements from the previous title. Fans have expressed that even the streaks have been carried over, apart from three or four, which offer some innovation. Only time will tell if and when things finally start looking up for the game and, later on, the franchise. Modern Warfare 3 is available now on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC.
