Multiversus is a title that brings the best of Warner Bros. and hosts a grand crossover among the plethora of IPs owned by the media-holding brand. The title initially entered Early Access and Open Beta in 2022 but then went offline in 2023, only for it to return on May 23, 2024.
It is a free-to-play 2-dimensional fighting game released for current and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC. When Ed Boon posted about the upcoming crossover fighting game, a fan asked if a popular Mortal Kombat character would appear when the game relaunches.

Boon has worked on almost the entire Mortal Kombat video game series. He recently retweeted a post shared by the official social media handle of Multiversus. He reiterated the game’s relaunch date and said that it was only a week away from hitting the shelves again.
Multiversus will feature characters from DC Comics, Rick and Morty, and Scooby-Doo, among other universes. Unfortunately, no characters from the famous fighting game that Boon worked on during his time at Midway and Nether Realm studios have been featured in the roster revealed for the game.
Owing to this, an enthusiastic fan took the opportunity to ask if Shang Tsung, one of the most prominent characters in the fighting game series, would ever feature in the crossover title:
Since Mortal Kombat is a title that has seen many collaborations with other universes, it is only logical for any of its characters to appear in Multiversus. Not to mention, it would go a long way for the latter’s popularity.
Fan Reactions to the Idea of Shang Tsung Coming to Multiversus
![mv Characters like Scorpion or Sub-Zero might be better fits for the crossover fighting game.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/08164809/multiversus-1024x576.jpeg)
Mortal Kombat is a video game series home to many iconic and loved characters. While Shung Tsang is a character that has been in the series since the first title, arguably, there are characters with a much bigger fan base than the sorcerer.
Fans were quick to dismiss the collaboration and instead suggested other characters that would make for better additions to the upcoming title’s roster:
Scorpion, arguably, has been the character that has been the poster boy for the fighting game series; in fact, he might be the most well-known in the series’ roster. Another fan supported this, as they listed other fighters who should be featured instead of Shang Tsung:
Since Multiversus features some of the most famous characters from every universe, like Batman from DC Comics and Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.
Perhaps someone like Scorpion would make for a better addition, but only time will tell if we even get a collaboration in the first place.
