His portrayal of Loki in Avengers: Age of Ultron—from a would-be cameo to an eventual deleted scene

However, Hiddleston’s Loki was supposed to have a cameo in Avengers: Age of Ultron as well, which was eventually deleted though it had been filmed already because it was apparently confusing test audiences. What was supposed to be Thor’s dream sequence ended up being deleted entirely because it led the test audience to believe that Loki was controlling Ultron. In an interview, Hiddleston said,

“In test screenings, audiences had overemphasised Loki’s role, so they thought that because I was in it, I was controlling Ultron, and it was actually imbalancing people’s expectations.”
