The upcoming 96th Academy Awards is all set to honor the best films of 2023. The nominations list is out and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has secured the crown with 13 nominations. The second place is secured by Emma Stone’s Poor Things with 11 nominations, three less than her record-breaking 14 nominations at the 89th Academy Awards for La La Land (2016).
Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon took the third spot with 10 nominations. All eyes were on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which got 8 nominations including Best Picture. Many great films were released in 2023. Now, only time will tell which one will take home the Best Picture Academy Award this year.

Oppenheimer got 13 nominations at the upcoming Oscars
With the anticipation for the 96th Academy Awards at an all-time high, the list of all nominations has been released. As expected, Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer took the top spot with 13 nominations. The film’s star, Cillian Murphy has also been nominated for the Best Actor Award for his work in the film as well as Christopher Nolan for Best Director.
With just one more nomination, Oppenheimer could’ve tied with All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016) for having the most nominations by a single film. The last movie to reach this record, La La Land, won in six categories: Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, and Best Production Design at the 89th Academy Awards.

Emma Stone’s Poor Things got 11 nominations
Actress Emma Stone‘s 2023 movie Poor Things took the second spot with 11 nominations, including a nomination for Stone for Best Actress for her work in the movie. Here is a list of all the movies that got the most nominations:

While Greta Gerwig’s Barbie won at the box office, Oppenheimer is expected to sweep at the Oscars. It is to be noted that Maestro is actor Bradley Cooper’s second feature film as a director. Fans have found it amusing that the actor not just starred in the movie but also directed, wrote, and produced it and earned so many nominations, putting him alongside legendary directors like Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese.
The upcoming Oscars are expected to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, on March 10, 2024.
