  • The only person to have develop the Wood Release is Yamato, who was experimented on with Hashirama Cells by Orochimaru and killing several during the experimentation.
  • Naruto fan theory suggests that Yamato was a descendant of the Senju clan and that is why his dormant Senju genes kicked in upon experimentation.

It has been a few years since Naruto Shippuden ended, with Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga tying the knot. Nonetheless, it has remained one of the most popular anime of all time. It is considered one of the Big Three of anime and played a big role in making the anime and manga industry mainstream. Even after wrapping up, there seems to be no end to the fan theories.

Masashi Kishimoto’s magnum opus often made headlines due to wild fan theories. One of those fan theories was surrounding Yamato and Tsunade. Tsunade was one of the legendary Sannin and the Fifth Hokage, so it is not new for her to be the attraction for fan theories. But the one with Yamato managed to grab the audience’s attention pretty firmly.

Tsunade Might Be Yamato’s Mother

Tsunade is the granddaughter of the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. The Senju clan was known for their Wood Style release. After them, no one could use the Wood Style until mysteriously, Yamato revived the Kekkei Genkai. But his Wood Style release was pretty weak compared to the Senju. Later, it was revealed to be Orochimaru’s doing. After becoming an orphan at a tender age, Orochimaru experimented on him and brought about the Wood Release.

He had experimented on multiple subjects by injecting them with Hashirama Cells. But none of them could handle the experimentation until Yamato. He developed the Wood Release and became a valuable asset to the Hidden Leaf Village. This is where the fan theory takes a turn. The theory suggests that Yamato belonged to the Senju lineage, and the experimentation made his dormant Senju cells active and helped him develop the Wood Release.

So, it could mean that Yamato is actually Tsunade’s son. Their age gap is 25 years, which seems perfect to be mother and son. It was often seen that Tsunade used to go out on secret missions. Maybe it was an excuse to see his son, whom she had been hiding. On the other hand, due to Orochimaru’s trickery, she might not even know or remember having a son.

Orochimaru Did Wicked Things With Yamato In Naruto Shippuden

Every Naruto fan knows Orochimaru’s wicked experimentations led to several deaths until Yamato developed the Wood Style release. But the fan theory claims there is more than the eye can see. Yamato was never an orphan. He was stolen from Tsunade’s womb when he was a fetus. Orochimaru was one of the evilest beings in the Naruto verse, so it was pretty natural for him to do such a thing.

Moreover, he knew Tsunade from a young age and tricked her into stealing the fetus. After the death of her brother and lover, she wanted to hold onto something as support. So, she sired a son, and being an excellent medical kunoichi, she could have easily done it. There is also a possibility that Tsunade and her lover, Dan Kato, consummated their relationship before the latter’s death, and Tsunade got pregnant.

The son could be Yamato, whose Senju genes kicked in after being experimented. But it will always remain a fan theory since Naruto ended. But with Boruto, there is still a chance for it to become official. Ultimately, everything lies on Masashi Kishimoto.
