Netflix has unveiled a new glimpse of their upcoming live-action series based on Image Comics’ American Jesus trilogy of graphic novels. Mark Millar (famous for his work on Kick-Ass and Jupiter’s Legacy) and artist Peter Gross (known for The Books of Magic and Lucifer) have collaborated to create The Chosen One (also known as El Elegido in Spanish).
The show, set in Baja California, Mexico, follows the protagonist Jodie, who discovers he is the new Jesus Christ and must confront the Antichrist during the Apocalypse. Millar noted that relocating the story to Mexico adds a level of authenticity to the mythology and heightens the sense of impending doom.
