Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s love story actually began like most – with one being head over heels for the other and not having their feelings reciprocated. However, Keith Urban finally decided to give love a chance, and the two have been inseparable since. After dating for a little bit, the couple tied the knot in 2006.
However, before finding the man she instantly knew was going to be ‘The One’, Nicole Kidman almost gave the title to someone else – Lenny Kravitz. And even though there isn’t much known about their relationship, the actress revealed that she was once engaged to the musician, even if it was for a very short time.
Nicole Kidman Almost Married Lenny Kravitz
After Nicole Kidman’s marriage with Tom Cruise came to an end in 2001, the actress dated Lenny Kravitz for a brief period in 2003. While there wasn’t much in the news about the pair, Kidman revealed that she was secretly engaged to someone before finding her true soulmate in Keith Urban. Without revealing the name of her secret fiancé, Kidman opened up to Vanity Fair about why the engagement didn’t work out. She stated, “It just wasn’t right. I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.”
Perhaps Kidman later forgot about keeping the name of the mystery man under covers because while talking about her Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz, she ended up spilling the beans. In an interview with The EDIT (via People), the Just Go with It actress revealed,
“Well, I knew Zoë because I was engaged to her father. It’s all in the family! I love Lenny; he’s a great guy.”
Whoops. It looks like the cat is out of the bag!
Despite having a broken engagement with Kravitz, it doesn’t seem like there was ever any bad blood between the ex-couple, even after the breakup. In fact, at the 2016 CMT Music Awards, everything was A-okay for the two as they were seen hanging out with Urban backstage.
Zoë Kravitz Talks about the Accidental Reveal
The musician’s daughter spared her two cents about Kidman’s revelation, stating that the actress probably forgot people did not know anything about the bombshell she had dropped on them. Talking to The EDIT (via ET Online), The Batman actress stated,
“I think she forgot that no one knew that. I hadn’t seen her in a long time before Big Little Lies, but there was a point where we were all kind of living together. I was about 13, and she would take me to see movies; she was so nice to me.”
Well, it looks like Kravitz would have had no problem accepting Kidman as her stepmother if the engagement turned out to be a success. Alas, nothing of the sort happened, and the two are now just happy to be colleagues!
