Marvel Rivals is an upcoming online multiplayer game featuring iconic heroes and villains of the Marvel brand. The gaming community immediately jumped on board the closed beta tests hosted by the developers and quickly concluded that certain characters were too overpowered for their own sake.

It can be difficult to juggle around different characters with unique skills and powers and translate them into a video game. Early testers noticed that the game is far from perfect and could use some fine-tuning before the full launch sometime next year starting with Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher.

NetEase Games has developed several online multiplayer games in the past and is qualified to deliver an authentic superhero experience. The studio collaborated with Marvel’s gaming division and took the opportunity to share new details during San Diego Comic-Con to reveal the arrival of Doctor Doom in Marvel Rivals.

The announcement of new heroes and villains has caught the gaming community’s attention and early testers have noticed that some heroes are too overpowered. Characters like the Punisher possess no special abilities or inhuman strength, however, he is more than capable of keeping up with enhanced individuals in the field, but not to this extent.

It is unavoidable to discover issues in games with an ambitious nature like this, although the game developers already made changes before the launch like Adam Warlock’s cocoon and Venom’s insane burst of health while on cooldown, more issues will likely surface after they are patched.

Balancing and scaling are essential in a multiplayer game to ensure that players of opposing sides are fighting fairly on the same playing field.

Problems like these are like wheat in a field, every time one is plucked out another will take its place. NetEase Games better get on top of the situation of how effective and efficient the abilities of certain heroes and villains would fall in line with an accurate depiction from the source material.

The developers should also look into other aspects while they are at it, as some fans have noticed that Iron Man’s mobility is a far cry from how he would fly through the air compared to other iterations. Traversal can make or break a match, some characters could be sluggish and slow while some are much nimbler and agile like Spider-Man.

The web-slinger immediately became a fan favorite because of his attacks, mobility, and traversal systems. Perhaps the developers exerted a little more effort towards Spider-Man considering he is one of the most popular characters in the Marvel universe.

Frank Castle is just a regular man capable of great violence but to an extent, he can go on without having to back down from more omnipotent characters. The Punisher is tough in the comics but it is easy to forget he is just an ordinary man without superhuman abilities.

NetEase Games should take this feedback and work around these areas before the official release sometime next year. Perhaps nerfing the Punisher will be the solution to this problem and will be polished before launch.
